In a few brief words, how would you describe your season so far?
I have not hunted near as much this year as past years and have only taken one doe. And I've only seen two spike bucks. On the good side, I've seen plenty of doe.
Not worrying too much yet because I expect to hit the woods heavy with all the vacation days have left.

Got my daughter's first ever deer in the freezer, plus my son's first wall hanger.
Seeing mature 130-170 bucks.......holding out on killing my young bucks in years pasted is paying off big time.
Best season yet I'd say.......now just need that 170 to slip up.

So far I have logged approximately zero hours in the stand or woods at all. Come December 12th I will be done with finals and out of school for 5 weeks with nothing to do but find ole mossy horns. I'll kiss my wife and head out. Having a Christmas break is about the only good thing law school has done for my hunting time so far. 5 weeks of freedom with nothing to do but deer hunt. (and I have a short 55 page paper to write, but that's why there are laptops!!)

Good
Passed up a few shooters, shot several hogs. I'll be heading out this weekend with the intent of putting some meat in the freezer. Time to start looking through the scope and giving my bino's some rest

I have been blessed with 2 nice Bucks This year. I have a friend from work who complains there are no deer where he hunts, no matter which lease he gets on. But he is known for falling asleep when setting for 5 minutes also. :-)

I haven't hunted for myself yet since bow season, been trying to get my wife a deer, which she hasn't done yet. Only gone the first two weekends and had plenty of opportunities, she just takes too long to shoot.
I ended up shooting a spike buck late one evening. The deer have been hard to come by with the range conditions we have been having. Wife is a blind hunter only. It takes her a month of sundays to shoot from a good stand, if she had to shoot off a tree or knee etc. it would be a waste.
It's hell eatin em live

Deer aren't coming to feeders very well. Haven't seen a buck I want to shoot on camera or in person. Disappointed in the horns so far for as much moisture as we had.

Haven't seen the "Big Ten" since Nov. 10th, but got a few pics of him last weekend on the opposite side of the ranch. Shot a few hogs and we've caught 10-12 in a trap, but still waiting to see if theb10 slips up....I'm not worth a flip at scoring, but he's bigger than any deer I've had the opportunity to hunt. Was pretty bummed the last few times out, but those pics of him, got me excited again!!

(and I have a short 55 page paper to write, but that's why there are laptops!!) I can relate. Hang in there. Season has been best so far. 3 good bucks taken off our place. Several more still out there-I have the pictures to prove it. My oldest daughter decided she wanted to be a hunter this year and got a fat doe. Highlight of the season so far. Now both daughters will be after them for the rest of the season. All in all a wonderful year so far.......

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

I've seen a few decent bucks. Killed an older 8 point. Took my friend Curly out and he shot one too. Great season so far.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

frustrated once again, nothing mature on cams or in person since late september at the family place, finally had a good buck show up on thanksgiving day though.
and just not in the right place at the right time at one of the leases, good deer on camera all season but just cant close the deal.
always hope....

haha, ah yes. self defense..... Wind was wrong, sloshing tea glass in hand, mature buck that was sitting there watching me and a shiny SS bbl didn't spook him, he actually got to my trail I had just walked and stayed fluffed..in chip shot bow range with no cover around me, truck was within sight behind me...... And that's how you hunt to make things happen.

Wife and son both got their biggest bucks to date, and I also killed a decent buck. My 7 year old daughter got her first deer (doe). Been a wonderful season that I will not forget.

Bow season and rifle season opener were slow, but last weekend was one of the best trips I've ever had. So far got a little cull and a doe in the freezer. Have let several promising young bucks walk, and had a close call with a big boy while on still hunting. Also removed a pig and a coyote from the ranch. Great season so far.
