I love hunting Mexico, and as soon as my son is 18 and old enough to fend for himself, I am going back. I have been many times and never had issues as I hunted with a good landowner, but I do have friends who hunted and they had a serious issue which long story short, ended in a $10,000 bribe, loss of a $40,000 top drive and several guns, hunting gear, etc... that were in that top drive. It was either that or spend a very long time in a Mexican jail and have pieces of his body mailed home every once in a while as a reminder.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

Well it would cost us $15000.00 a gun for lease on this side of the river equal to what we have over there . So me paying my $2500.00 for 8yrs verses $15000.00 over here I think I could pay out that $ 50000.00 and still be money ahead . Maybe need a new pair of underwear !

Sad initial post, but this response is probably the funniest thing I'll read all day!

Correction: NEXT to their truck.
Man, you boys are so quick to jump on someone's typo. Didn't know we had a bunch of Yankee English majors in here.

It was a joke. How could I resist that lay up? Would you feel better if I told you that you get credit for the assist?

I never had any problems either , but have heard of a few. The problem I have is all the information you provide for license and gun permits they know exactly who, where, when and how much you have before you get there. Just saying, I know something like that can happen right here, but I'll take my chances here on my home court. It really a shame because there is some great hunting there.

Well just got home from Mexico !! We didn't even have any gun battles or bad drug deals !! Lol But we did have a great time and saw lots of good bucks . We didn't shoot any cause we just didn't see any monsters I did see a couple 3.5 year old 140 inch bucks and one 20inch wide 10pt that would push 150 that I figured to be around 4.5 . I was just wondering if anyone else made the trip and how they did .

this thread cracks me up. a lot of "stories" with no facts. Regarding the confiscated top drive, IF its the same one that I am aware of they were in violation of the law. The bottom line is, as long as you do what your supposed to do and follow the law it's no different than the US. If you decide that you want to break the law or push the limits then your risks are the same as US but could be higher consequences.

As far as the Cartels go, they don't care about hunters and their not going to mess with you unless your infringing on what their doing. We have 6500 acres down there off of hwy 2 due west of Zapata with a 12000 square foot lodge on the highest point of the ranch, so it's not like we are hiding back there. Take a look for yourselves, www.ranchoelzancudo.com The cartels run and supply a multi-billion dollar drug industry with the highest demand coming right out of this good ole US of A.... They create enough negative press on their own and don't need any additional baggage by preying on American hunters. Do yourself a favor and experience Mexico. It's a paradise for the outdoorsman!

Congrats Mexicohunter70... I think I recognize your name from another site as well. Good luck down there and I hope you kill a big one!!!

That's factually not true. The constitutional rights we take for granted in the USA mean nothing in Mexico. Ask any US citizen in a Mexican prison how things are different.

Many of my workers, who were born and raised there, would strongly disagree with you. Many haven't gone home the last 2 years for the holidays to see their family. I don't know many Americans that are too afraid to come home for the holidays.
