Nope

I usually save my PTO for hunting season anyways. It also helps when your boss is a hunter as well so you don't have to explain why you're leaving early on fridays and putting in more hours Mon-Thur

Nope. The owner of my company is a big hunter and understands the culture.

Nope. I save most of my vacation for hunting season, and set the expectation all year long that I will be taking lots of long weekends in October, November, December.

The time I came close, I had a trip planned for several months (vacation scheduled) and when the time came we had a large job come in and the owner says" you can't go" well I threw a little fit and he says well it's your department and you're in charge. I giggled and politely replied back "yes it is and this is your company so you have a decision to make and I'll see you on Monday.

Had an Uncle that use to quit his job in November because his boss would not let him off to hunt. He must have been a good employee because his boss would hire him back every year in December.

Not a job but almost my best friend.
I got married on opening day in 1987 and my best man was a little perturbed. He hunted in Ozona nd had to drive back to Fort Worth. But it was the only time I could take off for the honeymoon. He finally got over it.

Probably will lose mine this year. 3 yrs in a row (including this year), I have put in for vacation the 3rd week in Nov, for my annual trip to Kansas. The past 2 yrs, the vacation was approved and then on the week before I'm supposed to be off, the boss man cancelled it. This year, he denied it right off the bat, except he didn't let me know till 2 days before. Sent me a FREAKING text message in doing it!!!
That was last week, so I backed it up to this coming week (Sun thru Wed, then my schedule 6 days off).
Still no word yet, but since one of the units is down, I expect it to be another "No".
Soooooooooooooooooooooooo, I'm on my nite runs and I just plan on leaving work early "sick" on Sun nite/Monday morning, and head to Kansas. Then just call in every day till Wed that I'm sick.
Which I am....................................Sick of him!!!

No, but if I ever win that Grand Slam, and they won't give me the time off, I'm out of there.

Same thing here. Get 50 hrs in by 1 on Friday and I'm gone. President of company is a hunter as well.

Never looked back or went back to work for those guys. I have lost to many girlfriends in huntings season to remember.

I haven't ever lost a job because of it and I am sure my boss would love to fire me over it now. But he is my uncle and if I get to being gone too much he will stop by my office and say "Think you can make it two days in a row this week?" So I will oblige and continue on.

I did have an uncle who is a master electrician, he had a job working for NASA. My grandfather and him hunted every year together for two weeks. His boss wouldn't let him off work one year so he just quit. His bosses boss tried to hire him back. offered more money but he told him he didn't want to work under a a-hole like that. He went on to other things. He has quit more good jobs in a single year to hunt and fish than most people have in a lifetime.

Well, it was "Denied" again!!!
All I am doing now is watching the weather in Ks where I hunt. Not good for the next few days. Hot and windy. But changes coming Thursday.
Soooooooooooooooooooo, looks like I will work nights till Tue. Get sick around 1 am (Wed morning) and early out. Have truck already loaded and leave from there. Figure I can roll into camp by noon Wed, have time to hang my stand and be ready for the colder weather that Thursday morning all the way till Thanksgiving. Call in sick again Wed night. Thur thru Tue are my days off, so I put in the 4 days around Thanksgiving, banking on he will approve those dates!!!

When I was a painting contractor I leased a house from one of the builders in town. We had a big blowup on a job and he demanded that I stay in town and finish this job when I was supposed to be out for a week hunting. We continued to disagree about terms and he couldn't get his part of the deal together so I left town. When I got back in cell service the next week I had a VM telling me I was evicted and he had leased the house to somebody else. Had a week to get out. So, lost the house and obviously I didn't paint anything else for him.
