I use the dead ones for bait. I have a spot in a back pasture where I leave dead hogs and coyotes (and dead skunk and whatever). The dead critters bring buzzards and also bring more coyotes, which I shoot and leave in that pile. Works pretty good for me.

Last year I had some dead critters laid out there, and a couple of big hogs came over to help themselves. I dropped two hogs and moved them back to the pile. Half hour later here came two coyotes. I shot the first one that fell right on top of a dead pig (that's called stacking em up). Got the other coyote as he stopped at the edge of the far woods. That approach seems to bring in more coyotes than my pitiful attempts to call them.

Certainly you jest. If that's true everyone within a twenty county radius would be bringin' in yotes claiming they were from Mason county.

It is not the t-posts. It is the trapped moisture and what ever else chemically is happening where the carcass remain in contact with the stressed barbed wire. To make matters worse, I have seen carcasses hung directly on the wire. Doesn't take long for a permanent sag to form.

Have you ever seen a dead coyote on the side of the road in New Mexico? Allsup's is based out of Clovis. clap
