Has anyone seen any sign of the rut starting in shackleford county? This is my first year hunting in the area just wondering when the rut usually gets going in full swing?

I'm not too far from you in Western Young county. 30 minutes to Albany. Saw 2 3.5 yr old bucks in the same feeder pen last Sunday. Will be a couple of weeks.

Saw a 4 yr old 8 and a 5+ yr old non typ chasing in fisher county the last 2 days. Doe weren't stopping but the bucks sure were trying. The non typ chased the doe in circles for 10 solid mins, to the point of foaming at the mouth.

Saw some young bucks sniffing around and 1 young doe acting like she was ready but no action from the older deer.. Usually kicks in good around last week of November for us and were about 5-6 miles south of Albany.

Ive always used the 15-20th and ive been hunting just west of moran for 13 years. but just got back today and they are already chasing (and busted up badly unfortunately). Its the earliest i remeber and not sure what triggered it. But saw four bucks in the last 48 hours with noses to the ground running does like crazy.

Have you looked at any trails crossing the property? If I showed you my pics from sept to now you'd think my season would be a bust, but I moved about half a mile and threw together a brush blind and I'm on them. It's usually not like that, I've hunt this spot for 6 yrs now in fisher and they always hit the feeders. Not this year, I blame all the greens they still have to eat. They're used to drought conditions at my lease.

Went from seeing maybe 1-2 a sit, to 10-20 after I set up on a trail. Not a feeder within a half mile.

my buddy was out this weekend at our place NE of Moran off 576 and said it was kinda dead...I'm waiting for this cold front to blow thru and then I'm hitting it hard. Good luck all!
