Know anyone who always believes it's necessary to reset the clocks in their feeders with the change back to Standard Time?

So let's have some fun.

If you don't change your feeder's clock from its current setting, will your feeder go off earlier or later according to your watch that has been switched back?

Earlier, of course. Dang thing will magically change from throwing at 7:40 to throwing at 6:40.

I don't change mine. The deer will get used to it after a few days like I do.

It only affects deer with watches.

My deer read the TPWD handbook and so this year they know when the time changes.....I've trained them well.

All seriousness: I have mine set for early December and let em run.

I do it just so that when I do go check my feeder, the time is correct to my watch.

This gets to be slightly harder if you are running the analog timers with only hour increments to set time and throwing times. In that case, I keep the throwing at 7AM and 6PM but only set my timer clock back 30 minutes instead of 1 hour, thus effectively throwing at 6:30AM and 5:30PM. I've tried leaving the times alone with these analog timers and it does not work.

I throw at 7:00 & 4:00 on one and 7:30 & 4:30 on the other in the same area. Don't change the feeder times but change the camera times for obvious reasons.

I love to watch them running from one to the other. Keeps them around longer.

Exactly! I'm the one who manages the feeder timers for all of the feeders on our lease, so when the guys ask what time they will go off, I have to tell them "Around daylight, and about an hour before dark." If I try to tell them clock times, they start getting confused.

Lmao I got in a heated argument about this very subject with a guy I hunt with last weekend. He was so worried about setting his feeder timers back and I asked him why? Just leave them alone, the sun is doing the same thing its just the time on your watch that is changing. We went round and round about it for probably thirty minutes until I just finally said fine, do what you want. Then he said I was a D.A. for not changing mine. I could only laugh. Oh and this guy is like 20 years older than me, I guess that's just proof wisdom don't always come with age.

I'm with the crowd that just leaves mine on standard time year round. Never change the clock unless a battery goes dead and I'm forced to. This conversation does make me wish they could have really perfected the old photo-eyes that went off at sunlight and then again 8.5 hours later. No clock, no guesswork.....but, empty barrels after lightning storms, premature spinning when hit with flashlight, clogged eye due to corn dust.....you remember the issues. Good luck to everybody this weekend!
