They put out 5 pheasant and Grendel pointed five pheasant. He is doing a fantastic job. I am very proud of my little English Setter:

I on the other hand need to work on my footwork. I managed to do the twisting into a pretzel, hung up in the grass, falling on my hinny shot and cleanly missed one, was taking pictures instead of shooting birds on 1, and pushed the bird out the wrong side on another. So this hunter was 2 for 5.

Still was great to get out and do a little hunting. I love watching the dog and walking in high grass looking for birds. Today was a prefect morning for it.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Not a big fan of puppies but if you do not do the puppy thing it takes about a month for a grown dog to trust you and decide he belongs to you. About 2-3 hunting trips will do it. We are on our 5th trip now and he knows the whistle commands and trusts me.

Makes for a good hunt...

Do you know the bloodlines of this setter yet? Good looking dog.

Yeah, his breeder was Jim Gourley his grandfather is Tomoka on his father side. Tomoka has 1087 points. His grandfather on his mother side is Tekoa Mountain Sunrise with 1777 points. Plus a bunch of other really good dogs.

Points? I can't read your pedigree but I'm fairly certain that is the number of wins their progeny have.
