1st post, justed joined today. Been a member on TFF for awhile "user name 7777 there. I do some fishing in Texas but never hunted there.
I see a lot of posts on hog hunting, they are getting bad everywhere. Does anyone get after the tree rats? I went out this morning and killed 4. It's still too hot but they were cutting early. Had them cleaned and was headed home by 8:30. Should start getting better and better between now and deer season.

same here, I had a feral cat that came by and did $900 in
damages to Kois in my pond ,,, the F ker would only eat the
head and leave the rest; then back next night to kill several
more... this went on for 2 months

found him in my shed one day and I exact revenge on him
with my pellet gun, took several pellets to dispatch him,,,,
something with 9 lives

big fat, smelly nasty sucker

got to the point if I see a cat in my yard I would drop
everything and chase/kill him

I purposely hunt squirrels, for food. I wouldn't want to eat them year round but usually every fall I begin to get a little craving for them. Brings back memories of growing up in deep East Texas. Nowadays my wife seasons them heavily with the Uncle Bucks spicy Chicken Batter from BassPro, and a little Buffalo rub from Pampered Chef, then deep fry them.

I suggest a shotgun with #6 shot when hunting on/near public land. Less chance of hurting someone.

I use an 870 pump 12 gauge, 30 inch full choke barrel with low brass 6 to 8 shot until the leaves start thinning. Then I switch to the 22 mag or the 17 and take strictly head shots.

Gotta love a scrawny squirrel covered with big juicy ticks. Yuck.

Man, wish it were easy to find a place to shoot squirrels like it was 20 years ago. Go out all day with a .22 and have at it!

I bet a man could do some serious damage on the squirrel population with thermal and an air rifle
