I agree 100%. Even though the fish are bigger I am not much on reservoir or even big river fishing. Give me the high mountain streams...

If you're talking about the male here's a better pic of him in the water. It's amazing how strong those fish are when they fight...

Heck of a brookie, congrats! Hoping to catch my first in RMNP in a week.

I hope you had a sign on your back that said "I'm from texas" when you were hauling them trout out...

Those male brookies are sure pretty fish. Wish I could've gone. We did get rain this weekend though, right after planting our oats. Still a tad early though. Question, how'd they treat a "flatlander" up there?

I only have about two interactions with folks up there: 1)a trip to Wal Mart and 2)a stop at a little general store to buy my license/any last minute stuff. The rest of the time I'm living out of my tent. So I don't give them much opportunity to treat me bad. smile

That said, the people I occasionally run into while camping have been 99% great. As I was leaving I ran into a little family with a couple of dogs and we talked awhile about fishing spots, etc. Sweet as could be and said "God bless you" as we parted.

The biggest jerks were actually some dove hunters at Taco Casa in Vernon when I asked them how the birds were flying.....

Great photos and nice fish! Am I seeing the Aspens changing color already?

Were you using dry flies? I was in the San Juans last week but had a tough go at it early on with some real tepid fish. Not to hijack your thread but I managed to catch this cutbow in an alpine lake. Probably the largest trout I have ever landed. Heaven for sure up there.
