That looks awful. I am sorry to hear about your buddy. I know that we always gather around before a hunt like we did this year and one person always goes over the "rules" for the day. We do this on EVERY HUNT. I know it gets repetitive, but it's the most important part of hunting. Safety. Some us don't want to hear it, but it's always a good reminder. Especially when it gets hot and heavy. I'd rather have to pass on a couple of birds because of an unsafe shot that have an accident. I have a buddy that still has 3 7.5 shots in his face...

Sorry about the shootee, sorry for the shooter. Can't judge whether stupid or accidental, maybe his first time out and he didn't want to go. Maybe panic set in and he fled. I once saw a load of steel come down on a fellow worker, my first impulse was to take a long break. Similar to people who flee a hit & run, they aren't necessarily bad people, just don't have the right response skills. I have heard of highly trained people panicking when a big mean dog or hog got after them.

I was standing next to my truck getting a drink, next to a white lifted dodge. There are dents from every BB and paint gone. You could see clearly where the shot went around me. My gun was laying the bed of my truck while I was peeing... Worst pain I've ever felt! My friends through me in my dads truck and went straight to the ER, they stayed to talk to police and looked up and the guy was no where to be found... Got some info on him from

Very sorry, that is scary! Accidents do happen even to experiemced hunters. Every time something like this happens its always a reality check for me. It wouldnt make the guy look so bad, if he wouldnt have left, and stayed to show concern and take responsibility for his mistake. but who knows what ran through his head.

Sorry buddy no harm meant! Sux that you got shot but I'm betting it was a city slicker that did it!

With his 10 hours of hunter safety class, that is now up to a whoopee 6 hours.

That's a wrong generalization IMO. Born and raised in the country and still live there and believe me there are some real idiots with guns who grew up with them....

Way way back when in high school my best friend did the same thing to his Dads truck when we were dove hunting. I laughed all the way home while he fretted over what hid Dad was going to do to him. It was also the last time I ever allowed myself to be around him when guns were involved. If he could not see a truck I did not feel safe hunting with him.

Do the docs think the shot will rise up and come out on its own? My grandfather took a Japanese grenade to the back in WWII. Shrapnel kept coming to the top of the skin surface for the next 20 years.
