Saw in the email from Guns America yesterday they were talking about this round and how it was supposed to be really scarce, as they were only getting it to test with.....
I guess I should go buy lotto tickets tonight

I haven't seen any ammo on the shelves for it yet. Or a rifle...

My local Wally World has been getting it in sporadically. Nobody knows what it is other than its not .17 HMR! I've been getting my 3 box limit every morning for a while now. I've got around 500 rnds so far, now I just need the rifle so I can shoot them!

It looks like this is another incident where the press beat the gun to market. Ruger was bad about this; they'd get articles written about guns there were still prototyping and wound up never producing.

I imagine we'll see this gun/ammo out by spring, but if Win and Savage are smart, they'll get them out before XMas. Since these are not deer guns, the timing on marketing them will be tricky.

I want one, but I am not going to purchase one til ammo because readily available. When the 17HMR first came out, I can remember store shelves being full of 17HMR, and guns in 17HMR were common. I know we have had a big ammo/gun craze this year, but it is still bad marketing on Winchesters part.

Hi boys,

We had the new Savage bolt action rifle in .17 Winchester Super Magnum (priced at $329) at Cabela's Allen when I worked there 2 weeks ago. We also had a stack of ammo - the 20 grain bullet at 3000FPS.

Seems like a useful varmint round, but I want to see other manufacturer's rifle options before I pull the trigger.

Regards,

I want one , but until there is an option between the
$300 savage and the 1500. Winchester 1885,

I must pass.

Where is the Ruger 77/.17WSM ?

B&W gun and pawn in Mt. Pleasant has a lot of ammo for it. 25 gr 2600fps. 21.99 a box of 50 I think. I bought mine gun there and 500 rounds of ammo over a month ago.

Just got me 3 more boxes of the 20 gr. load at Wally World. I've got 4 shops looking for me a rifle! Hopefully I'll find one soon!

That's the other issue, the one rifle out for it doesn't appeal to me. The rubber (or whatever) stock on it and its bad lines are not appealing. So, let's see what Win, Ruger, and Remy do with this round before I pull the trigger and buy one.
