You're not a very good liar, you rat yourself out rather quickly.

I dont conserve dove shells. 3 to the bolt every bird, everytime.

Probably no more than 15...........boxes.

If you aren't emptying your gun your not really shooting.

If the birds are steadily coming in, maybe 1 a day. Otherwise box & a half average. I try to pick my shots carefully. Had one guy they called bang-bang. Had an O/U and fired two shots at every bird he saw, regardless of distance!

I take my two grandsons dove hunting so the three of us shoot more than I want to know (damn video games).

I don't ever miss but I do often let a few shots off to keep them flying towards the other hunters. (Is that an original excuse?)

When I started dove hunting, I was given 12 shells for the 12 bird bag limit. I didn't like it one bit, but I have to admit I am a better shot for it today. I made twelve birds a few times, with some lucky doubles.
Dang brother hit a triple last year.

If they are flying high, may get into 3rd box... otherwise 1-1/2 to shake the rust off.

You guys are doing it wrong, I use a case,(probably the ones you guys will leave by your trucks) string, a stick and 100lbs of corn n millet mix. BAM! You pick the fat ones first, cuz they are the fiestiest, then the young ones.


And my name actually has a good, kinda funny story behind it.

I like to see how close I can get without hitting them, so several boxes...sometimes I get too close and kill them.

It'll be a couple I'm sure. Get a bit ancy on opening day. Don't keep my head on the gun until I've missed a few. Then I learn my lesson.

If it's anything like two years ago I won't finish a box. Not even close. Of course I only killed 4 birds. Shoulder to screwed to shoot last year. So I'd say at least 3 boxes.

Hopefully one box. 28 gauge shells are pricey...

I will bring a case or two for the first two days for me and my son. I usually hit all of my birds with one shot. The ones I don't hit usually take three shots to miss. It is more fun to shoot 2-3 boxes of shells and get a limit then shoot 1 shot per bird.

I use a 4 10 single shot with a full choke. Is that better?

I tend to agree. I read that the average is 7 shots per bird. We must have some exceptional shots (or BSers) here.

But you can get hot. One year, I got my limit on a single box & it included a double with shells left over. Never before, never again.

Inconsistency is my specialty.

Dang near a case. We have some very heavy white wing action down by Lake Buchanan and every year has been fantastic.

Well I shot clays last weekend and hit about 70-75% so hopefully I'll be limited out by one box. always 10 misses per box

Been hitting 85 - 90% at the range lately, so if I can resist those extry long shots........

The title specifically says opening day so shots are easy birds are dumb and plentiful. Then if birds aren't in high numbers for some folks well then they may only shoot once.

I can limit with a single box on some days. Never use more than 2 boxes. And before anyone talks smack, I shoot a lot and hunt a lot.
