Still have another week to go but thought I'd post a few. Weather hasn't been too cooperative and I had to cancel an offshore kayak trip for tomorrow but will be going tuesday on an 8 hr trip in a power boat.

Caught a bunch of ladyfish not pictured.

Here are a few more. I left the condo about 1900 and kayaked 7 miles up Grand Lagoon to the edge of the pass. On the way I saw a feeding frenzy and one cast and a pretty good little fight later I had a small jack crevalle. It was my first and they fight great.

At the edge of the pass I beached the kayak.

My daughter had caught some small blue crabs earlier in the day so I was trying them at first with no luck. Started walking the beach and found a live shrimp that had washed up so I put him on and caught this gafftop.

Once again I caught 5 or 6 lady fish. They are pretty cool when they jump out of the water when they are hooked but get annoying after a while. I ended up leaving when a couple dolphins started surfacing within 15 yards of the beach where I was fishing.

Caught 4 hardtails today.

Sand bar shark

Didn't catch it from the yak but I did yak to the spot we fished wink It started storming bad while I was fighting him and we immediately left right after. We were at the mouth of the pass and he took me about 100 yards down the beach. Caught on an Abu 6500 with 20 lb test. Cut ladyfish.

Where we were at:

Haley is there with her boyfriend and family. She said it rained all day, but there was excitement in front of the condo, when emergency crews had to rescue some folks out of a rip tide.

3 weeks and I will be sitting on the beach in Ft. Morgan, AL soaking up rays and killing some shiner.

Y'all have a great trip and stay safe.

Thanks, yeah the weather has been terrible. Two years in a row now we've stayed out of the surf completely and stuck to protected waters. The kids can swim without getting drowned and they like to catch the hermit crabs.

I heard the ambulances yesterday, wonder if it was the same incident.

New pics from the last two days!

Yesterday we caught a ton of ladyfish and hardtails as usual so I cut another ladyfish for shark bait.
Anyone know what kind of shark this is? Looked different from the sandbar shark from the previous day with the strip down the body and up the tail.

And a few random shots.

Pics of today's offshore trip to come.

Today we went out with One Shot Charters out of Destin. The trip started off slow having a hard time finding bait but we finally got it going. Besides our limits of snapper, I caught a gag grouper and got broke off by something pretty serious. Snapped 65lb braid.
My wife Heather had a huge shark hooked but he chewed through the leader right at the boat. Guide estimated 100+lbs. We saw a big bull Mahi holding on a floating log but he just wouldn't take anything we threw at it. It was beautiful just to see him though. Also, we trolled a weed line we found and I hooked up on a big wahoo and got him all the way to the boat and he just spit the hook. Unexplained and heartbreaking. Finally, I was freelining a cigar minnow and hooked up on a dolphin (the flipper kind) he peeled line like nothing a was jumping 20ft out of the water. It was awesome but we had to cut the line before he spooled us. So we were actually pretty snake bit today but it was a great time.
Also saw a sailfish jump 3 times and a bunch of sea turtles.

very nice. Hard to beat fresh snapper..

I'm no shark expert, but i'd guess that 2nd one is a blue shark looking at the face/nose, the strip, and what i can see of the dorsal and tail.
