The state park has drawn hunts. I lived there for 2 years and I spent a lot of time in the State Park. I never saw a buck but I saw a TON of doe.
Now,on the other hand, the National Forest has produced a lot of nice deer. If you can find a spot where there are not 900 other people, you will see deer. I've seen many bucks in the forest in certain places.
If you can get a tag at the State Park, then do it. There are a lot of deer there.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

I think your talking about a section of the national forest just north of the state park. It backs up to what is probably the biggest neighborhood in Huntsville. Thats why it is archery only. Ive seen plenty of vehicles parked around the hiking trail entrance on the highway. Thats about all I can tell you. That and get out there early and plan on hiking deep into the woods to be succesful.

That area is on the border of Huntsville State Park. In my opinion it is too dense of an area to bow hunt. I was interested in hunting there, and walked around for a couple of hours. Found one possible place to sit in a stand, but you would only be able to get about 6 feet off the ground before you are covered up with so many limbs it would make your head spin. By the way, that was near the trail. Get off the trail, and it is nearly impossible to see.
