Thought I would float this out there to see if anyone is interested in a trade. I have a place in south east Oklahoma (Pushmataha county) that has an abundance of turkey. Season is between April 22 and May 6 and I believe the limit is one Tom per person. I don't know a thing about Turkey but I’m told they are easterns. We have a small cabin for lodging, nothing fancy but it is a place to eat and sleep. What I’d like to do is trade for an exotic meat hunt. My son left my freezer open so now I don't have any meat. So if anyone has free ranging exotics on their place and they want to hunt an eastern let me know.

No doubt those are eastern birds. Good luck on the trade of hunts.

Does my trade offer seem reasonable to you guys or am I way off the mark? Since I don't know anything about turkey hunting I have no idea if you guys are as fanatical about turkey as I am about deer. BTW, my offer does not have to be just one guy, bring your kid or your hunting buddy and have a ball. Thanks for all the well wishes.

For a couple guys it sounds like a fare trade to me, for a couple exotic does.
Might try posting it in the exotics section also or sell the hunt to pay for a coupled does.

Looks awesome and yeah I would say a $200 exotic doe is a fair trade for a big longbearded eastern like that. Wish I had an exotic doe we would be swappin'. Also that look's like a bearded hen in your lower pic there. Those are said to be 1 in 50,000 or somethin' like that. Guess I have seen 3-400,000 turkey's cause that is the 7-8th one I have seen.

I looked for more pictures yesterday but I normally delete them so they are hard to come by. Here is a couple questions for the experts; How far do turkey generally range and what is their main food? All I ever see them eating is my corn . There was no fall gun season last year (bow only) so are these turkey likely to still be around? I’m not over run with predators, just normal (like east Texas) numbers of coyotes/bobcats, some hogs, few bear and a metric ton of coons down by the creek. Also, there is a very big creek, a nice size pond (maybe 40ac) and the Kiamachi river is only 3 miles away so bring your fishing gear if we make a trade.

That's a great bird there. Turkey will eat bugs, seeds, new grass, all kinds of stuff.

If you're feeders are still throwing corn, they're most likely still around.

turkey's will range over 10 miles to be said but you said it all when you said big creek and river! Tree's usually grow nice and tall and turkey's need water to flush their crop. No matter where I'm hunting turkey's first thing I look for is the field that is closest to a river or creek and the tallest trees!

Keep in mind that these are Eastern's in a forest environment and traditionally will not travel near as far as Rios on any given day.

I always enjoy watching the hunting videos of Eastern birds where they make several set-ups before harvesting a bird. You don't get that chance very often with Rios's...they are gone for the day.

Where did you hear that? I would imagine about 1:10/20 are bearded, however that is a thick beard for a hen. I would far from consider a bearded hen rare, not normal but far from rare

I'd love to bring my kid up to hunt those turkeys one weekend. Do you have anything else you would consider a trade on?

Most definitely a legit offer. Wish I could make up the other end.
Good luck.

I'm getting quite a few PM’s asking if I would be willing to sell a weekend hunt. I really don't want to do that but if I did consider it what do you guys think a good deal would be for a weekend hunt with lodging for 2 hunters? Thanks a bunch for all the help guys, I appreciate your patience with all my questions. I guess what they say about turkey hunters is wrong

Thought I would bump this up as the season is getting closer. I'm going out next weekend to put corn in the feeders and get the cameras going so I get new pics. Anyone that might be interested in this hunt is welcome to come take a look at the place. Thanks

Got a few but not as many as you would think. I have not seen one in months. That said I have a few places where I can hunt the nasty buggers. Thanks for the offer.
