Doubt there was a pot of gold there but have no doubt Chad could make the shot. But agree that the trajectory had to be about like a rainbow in shape.

For sure. If one has ever shot a .308 win to 1k and beyond, a .300 Blackout to 500 doesn't seem so tough. The science is the science.

I hit targets with my 458 at 300 yards and there was no pot of gold either but I sure thought I saw skittle coming out of my rainbow. smile The 458 is really is a 100 yard thumper and pretty accurate too but beyond that, forget about it. Was always interested in the 300 BO though.

Lota great points of view on the blackout here. Some old guard and some novices. I am a hobby AR assembler, novice reloader, and cheap to a fault. So the blackout is just about perfect for me. I dont shoot enough even at paper or steel at 100 or more yards to ever get the goodie out of a quality bolt action. Times for me may change and I might buy one, but for now I am glad that there is a round like this that lets me stretch my AR's capabilities and doesnt break my bank. Some of my favorite features include:

Recycled 223 brass.. I hate throwing cases away that arent just runined.
Low recoil... I am a large guy but I would lower recoil on any gun just sayin
Supressability
Light weight platform in my AR
Again recycling my brass
Cheap to reload, build, and kills as good or better than the 223.
I paid 13.95 per 20 last time I bought it and that was not the lowest price point for this ammo. I know prices are crazy now but this too shall pass.

I have 3 children that ALL killed turkeys with a suppressed Blackout this year. I also killed 3 deer, several pigs, 4 porcupines and probably 50 coons. All were DRT.

AR style stock can be sized for each child, kids don't fear the recoil (hence no flinching) and there is no scrambling for earmuffs when it's time to shoot.

There may be better calibers in theory, but the Blackout is a gun the whole family enjoys and shoots well. I reload with Barnes bullets and the ammo is about the same price as factory 223 hunting rounds. Bout as perfect as you can get!

The 6.8 SPC is what the 300 BLKOUT wants to be when it grows up.

...And the 6.8 aspires to be more like the .270 Winchester.

I was just playing around. I love me 6.8 but I'll admit that the 300BLkout would be one heck of a fun gun to own.

The 6.8 just seems like a better all around cartridge.

I've owned both , few different set ups. 6.8 is freaking awesome but there is nothing like shooting a 300 blk subsonic suppressed !

If I were going to develope a suppressed 30 cal I would probably start with the 30 Carbine.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Frankly, the 7mm TCU cartridge is the cat's meow as far as I'm concerned. It's simply 223 brass necked up to 7mm (.284"). No shortening the brass. Very inexpensive to make and load with free 223 range brass. The caliber was developed by silhouette shooters back in the 80's.
Love shooting it out of my Contender and so very accurate.

Where do you buy your 223? Loaded my buddys Whisper for several years now and just never figured out why someone came up with this one.

Its kinda like the remington Electorix rifles, an answer to a question few asked. With all that said though, it is here to stay, atleast for while.

Close, it was designed to be just enough different from the 300 Wbisper to avoid the cost of paying for use of the Proprietary Whisper royalties to JD Jones at SSK industries. The 300 whisper was developed as a subsonic round for use in single shot contenders and is pretty much just the 221 Remington Fireball necked up to .308. Remember the Fireball case can be made from 223 brass following the same process as the ACC round but more steps necking the case down further is required, They made it so close to the Whisper that it is safe to shoot Whisper ammo in the ACC

1. Allows the use of AR platform to build a rifle.Huge supply
2. Allows use of AR magazines. Huge supply
3. Virtually unlimited supply of reloading brass.Huge supply
4. Supersonic if you want, Subsonic ability to shoot in built up areas and not disturb neighbors or game.
4. Its NOT a .45acp because a .45 drops like a rainbow over 100 yds.

Its supported by quite a few factory barrel builders because of those reasons.i.e. factory chambered drop in barrels.

It's like arguing the .223 is useless for varmints because you can have a .22-250 which is so much better!!!
