On Jan 1 I had a 7 Rem Mag case stick in the FL die so bad that the shell holder ripped the rim off the case, obviously trashing that case. I had lubed the case prior to sizing, but the expander ball was where the case got hung up. The die, brass and rifle belong to a friend of mine I doing load development for. So who knows how many pieces of brass that die has sized.

With the options I had, all I could do was strike the entire decapping assembly with a hammer to drive the case out of the die. Well, the decapping assembly got bent in the process.

Yesterday, I called RCBS and they didn't disappoint. He asked my problem, I told him I had a damaged part on a FL die. The next thing he did was get my name and address. Then he asked what part and what die. I told him, he had the part number memorized, and then said I have a new decapping assembly headed your way. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"

I had to put the phone on speaker and wait 30 minutes for my turn, but other than that they lived up to their warranty.

They're great, aren't they? My experiences with RCBS, Hornady, and Redding have always been just like that.

Wouldn't it be nice is every manufacturer stood behind their products like that?

I don't think it is too bold to say our people (firearms industry in general) tend to have the same ethics and morals we believe in as Americans (at least half of us that is). It's really a simple business decision. Treat a customer right and they will hang around.

Let me guess- Hornady One Shot lube? I hate stuck cases. I seem to get too much lube on these days and dent a few shoulders.

I've done a bunch of steel fab work for a bunch of people in several counties. I've always told folks "if something breaks from normal use, call me and I'll come fix it at no charge"

They always looked shocked when I say that, but I've never recieved the call in 17 years.

Nosir. Hornady Unique. The loading room was cold, I didn't add more lube to the pad (yes I still use one) so I think the case went in too dry. And you don't want to insert it dry. grin

I've just tried to make sure and not let the case tilt on the pad so's I don't get much on the shoulder. Havn't dented a shoulder in years, but this was my first stuck case after sizing thousands. Bet I'll be more careful to not let this happen either. Some of the lessons you never forget were learned the hard way.

nidea Curious to see what price scrap brass fetches at the scrap yard. The one pound powder jar I have on the shelf is starting to get full.

Absolutely I agree. It's funny...I did a LOT of buying and selling on eBay before I told them to shove their anti-gun krap. The gun-related stuff? Buyers and Sellers were NEVER a problem. The music and computer stuff was a different story and I had to assert myself a time or two. I've bought and sold a ton of stuff on boards just like this one...and never a problem whatsoever. I hear of shady characters now and then but their names spread like wildfire across the net. If I could choose to do ALL my business with any certain demographic, it would be shooters and handloaders HANDS DOWN.

Yeah, Redding is great too. I bought a set of 280AI dies, and was getting excessive runout on the bullet after seating (accubond 160's). I narrowed it down to the seating stem not liking the profile of the accubond bullets, and called redding to see if they knew about the issue. Same thing, Name and Address, and the new seating stem was at my front door three days later, free of charge.

Nothing damaged, nothing broken, no fault of theirs or mine, just an incapability that I was more than willing to pay to get fixed. I was never even given the opportunity to pay for it.

I broke a decapping pin out of a Redding once. The case was centered, the shell hold was fine, it was just one of the those weird things that happens.

I called Redding and asked I they would send me one. Sure, we'll send it today. I also wasn't given any opportunity to pay for anything. A few days later an envelope arrived with a catalogue and a another small envelope inside the large one. Inside was a little ziplock bag of 5 decapping pins.

I know that may have only cost a large corporation only $3 to $5 but it went a long way with me. No hassle on the phone and sent me some spares if it happens again. When I'm looking for dies for a new cartridge for myself or a friend, RCBS and Redding are the two brands I look at, and usually buy one or the other

I think the common factor that your missing is the MADE IN AMERICA part of this.

Never had issues with dies but

Ruger- The one time I had a problem they corrected it, sent me a new pistol and a check for the $20 transfer fee.

They also sent me the correct scope ring free of charge when I wanted to mount a 50mm scope on a rifle that came with rings for a 40mm and just asked that I return the other one.

Leupold- sends scope adjustment caps free

Danner boots- have exchanged wrong sized gifts 2 times for me; with no receipt and no questions asked.

Brother, I'm with ya!

Manners stocks built me a custom stock. Long story, but they ran waaay over th estimated time. Well after a couple of phone calls expressing my disappointment, Tom Manners himself called my cell phone. He explained how their new CNC mill didn't have the program for my CDI long action bottom metal. But they did have the pogram for Badger Ordinace bottom metal. He offered to inlet the stock for the Badger Ordinace ($300+ bottom metal) send the stock and the bottom metal if I would trade him for my CDI ($180 bottom metal). I said, "heck yeah! Sounds like a plan. 24 hours later I got a phone call telling me the stock had been shipped with a prepaid box for the CDI bottom metal and would be receiving a tracking number shortly.

Manners had me pretty ticked fo two months, but Mr.Manners made it right. Oh yeah, MADE IN USA!

RCBS sent me a new drum at no charge for my Sidewinder brass tumbler, a $90 item. It was bought new in the 80's and over time and wear became brittle and cracked. I did have to send them the old one back which I can fully understand. RCBS is top notch.

BTT for RCBS!

I needed a Tray and Lid for an OLD Hand Primer.

I requested Part Numbers, Pricing and ordering instructions for replacements via their online support last night.

Their Reply:

Brett, I processed your request at no charge. Please allow 1 week for shipment. Have a great weekend.
