Here's the deal guys....

I need a few extra hands to help me drop a new solar pump in one of my ranch wells next weekend. Anybody interested in making a ranch trip with me? Guys from SA area would be most convenient. I'm just replacing an existing pump set-up, so the job is not too involved, but it takes at least 3 guys to do it efficiently. My usual ranch crew is tied up coaching kids' sports over the next month so I'm looking for some short notice help.

It's been a bit dry lately, but we usually have plenty of hogs to hunt / trap, and the usual assortment of off season varmints. My place is out by Brackett. Not the biggest place in the world, but it has comfortable cabins and is set up pretty well for hunting, and we always eat well. This swap could be a recurring arrangement if things work out.

We'd get our work done mid day Saturday, and leave mornings and evenings for some hog hunts. I plan to get back in plenty of time Sunday for an annual Super Bowl party.

Anyone interested in trying solar powered water, here's a chance to see first hand how it works...

If interested PM me and we can discuss and I can reassure you that I am not a crazy internet stalker guy. scared

Doug

Be good to have a few Army guys out to the ranch. My oldest is in the Army In the 10th SF up at Fort Carson. Let me know if it works out...

Big thanks to Venom, Newt1234, and Newt's friend who joined me out at the ranch this past weekend. They were a big help getting the solar pump re-wired, back in the pipe and pushing water again. Water table was about 120' and we dropped the pump 160'. Major item checked off my to-do list out there. We worked together well, and got that all done in just an hour or 2 without sweating too much.

We spent the rest of the weekend cruising around the ranch doing the usual weekender ranch stuff... checking/topping off a few feeders, setting hog traps, filling water troughs, hunting, eating, and consuming a few cold beverages. Good ranch weekend. I tried to feed those boys good, and I don't think anyone went hungry.

Had some luck with the hunting, but the hogs are still a bit slow out there. Trapped one that would have been pretty big, but he had an old healed injury to his jaw, and he was pretty skinny. His lower jaw was so jacked up he probably had a hard time getting enough feed. We put him down and he went straight to the gut pile. Venom got a pretty nice 80 pounder at about 11:00 Friday night. Saw lots of turkey (Yeah!), a decent buck, a nice covey of quail, armadillo, and a ton of raptors on the gut pile. Got to show them what a Cara Cara is. Even did a bit of rabbit hunting.

I really enjoyed the weekend and getting to meet some new guys. Its always a risk putting an open invite out on the internet like this, but I've done it a few times and met some solid forum members as a result. These guys are all welcome to come back out and join me again. Hope they enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks again for the help guys...

Doug

(tried to update the heading to indicate it was an update of the weekend, but it didn't take the change)

Been meaning to PM ya and see if you were picking up that piece of property you were considering. You went by my place? Not sure of my next trip out, but I know I will be in the area for opening Turkey for TJack's youth hunt. Let me know when you head back out.
