I posted this in the 'Exotic Forum' but those guys, they ain't saying nothin'! So I'll try it here. There were a couple monsters taken recently where I hunt. I'm curious if they prefer the same terrain? Rocky, hilly terrain w/water nearby? We have some BIG hills(miniature mountains) that have the Colorado River running thru them. They have rocky terrain w/cedars groing on them, & mesquite. This goes on for miles along the river. Any specific spots I should look for? Do both Aoudad & Span. Goats prefer areas like this? Any quick baits?

look for aoudad feeding in the evenings on the sides of hills.
Glass them from a distance then use the terrain to hide and try and get close enough for a shot. They can see really good so walking straight to them isn't gonna work.
In the morning if you can set up and wait for light then do the above mentioned
I don't know much about spanish goats
From my experiance aoudad will bed up in the high points then move down the feed on the sides of hills.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Both will move in generally the same type of terrain. The Aoudad are more likely to come down in the lower areas to feed. I have sometimes even run across them in creek bottoms on our place. The goats will find a good vantage point high up. Aoudad will come to corn. The goats will not. They can both see very well and it makes for a challenging stalk.

I'm sure they would if the urge hit them, but on our place we've never seen them come to a corn feeder in 5 years of hunting there. We even have a couple of feeders close to the rocks that the aoudad hit regularly and would an easy place for the goats to get to. It kind of surprised me actually.

We have trouble with them tearing up the feeders. Different place they act different I guess.

Is it better to hunt them in morning, afternoon or evening? Do they pattern like deer or roam all day long?

If they are hitting corn, they are reliable customers.

I guess it depends on how hungry they are! Aoudad will come to corn. The goats will not.
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

These are free range in the hills. No way to get a feeder there & it's 3.5 hours away so no chance getting to bait it a couple days in advance. I could bait in the morning but doubt they'd find it by that afternoon.
