Why limit it to just Texas ? We are taking about a not so common breed.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

When u go to the website, hey have become big into show, but they use to and may still hunt some. If not they could probably direct u in the right path.

If you have not looked into Drahthaars, I would recommend that you take a look. There are several breeders in TX, OK, and LA that breed quality dogs.
The JGHV testing system is one of the more rigorous and it also includes strict breed and breeding standards.
Great versatile dogs. If you want contact info for a breeder I have the utmost confidence in, PM me. He does not have a litter planned but has dogs throughout Texas. There's also good dogs in the DFW area from other lines.

You might try the Texas chapter of navhda as well.

I would start with Aux Lake Kennels in Kansas and Switch Grass Kennel in Oklahoma. I didn't get my dog at either place, but they are highly regarded and are consistantly recommended on the internet. I got mine out of a breeder in Wyoming. We met in Oklahoma. He doesn't like to fly pups and I didn't want to either. He was down there for Christmas the one before last and I was in Dallas. So I made the trip to meet him. Great choice in the breed. A couple of things to keep in mind - Be on the lookout for the K Locus gene if you are planning to breed. It's a big no no. My dog has it, but I am not into breeding. More info here - http://awpga.com/breed/health-genetics/k-locus-database All it is a color trait that causes a tan coloring. No effect on performance or health. The other is thing I am going through is my pup can't stand the heat/allergies down in Austin during the summer. We are past the benedryl and I am taking her to a dermatologist before it gets hot again to figure out why she scratched and chewed a lot of her hair off. She stopped in the cooler months and hair is growing back, but I need to root cause the problem. There are a number of folks who have these dogs in Texas and none have had the same problem. Good luck on your search. Get on a list there aren't that many out there.
