I haven't been checked on a hunting lease five times in 30 years. Fishing, another story. I'd be asking what's up.

BenBob, where are you hunting now? You still got that place off of 377? If you are still in the same general area from what I understand its a new Game Warden. Might just be getting his comfort level up checking on people he already trusts.

Why does it bother you, do you plan on breaking the law. Nope. It would bother me because the initiation was to have an eye kept on my place, and the eye was turned back onto me and my group. After a couple of checks it would seem GW knows you're playing straight, everyone has a license, etc. Stopping by to shoot the breeze, look over a kill, talk about other good deer seen in the area etc, would be enjoyable. A license check etc over and over, same GW, not so much. The argument of "if you're not doing anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about" doesn't sit well with a free man, for anything. No disrespect intended. Apply that argument to say gun registration, a roadside DL check, someone reading you're Email. There's two sides to every story, we've only heard one side on this one.............

I would get tired of that in a hurry. Why dont you ask him what problem he has with you and your group so you can get past this b.s.

I catch up on this thread everytime I get on THF to see what has transpired. I gotta say this would ruffle my feathers big time if it happened to me. I guess I'm what you would call "a cranky ole fart" but call it what you want this is harassment by a law official. Your a better man than me to wait until now to question it.

So yall have been checked five times on each of the leases? I can't see a qw doing this unless they felt they needed too. Maybe the previous guys that leases it were up to no good. Id deff ask him if why he felt the need for multiple check ups, maybe he/she has a reason for doing what they are doing.

Lol, I must say this happened alot to me as well. Well it used to. Checked opening moring 6 years in a row, at daylight most times and several times throughout the year. A quick call to the sheriffs department to ask if this was harassment by a law officer and NO it's not.
But seriously, either someone is calling the warden on yall or the previous hunters there was doing illegal activites. No way they would keep showing up unless either of these were happening.
Call the lead warden for your area and asked him what up. He should be straight forward with you about it. I wouldnt ask just any warden, make sure it the lead/regional warden. Thats what I did, helped alot. Regular wardens would just beat around the bush and not help, mainly since my neighbor convinced them I was hunting illegaly. Took about 10 years to convince the wardens they were after the wrong person. Wasted tax dollars. One big reason my fathers company quit donating each year to them.
Good Luck.

May be a pain but on the up side once he's known to frequent the area it may help keep illegal activities by others down. Poaching, thefts, etc....... Which was your original intent.

I have only been checked twice in my whole life by the same warden and once was after my idiot neighbor shot at some spotlighters with an ak47 and the second was Thanksgiving morning of 2005 he was out quite often then but my Dad had some friends hunting on our place that he didn't know we're druggies, it took me 2 years to get them kicked off our place and it took the sheriffs dept coming out and searching deer camp to get him to listen. Now days that warden is our jp and we have a new warden I actually ask her to come out once in a while to help me keep an eye on things I even rode around with her and showed her around my place and where the best viewpoints were to catch poachers, so far she hasn't ever checked my license she knows I'm on the up and up but I wouldn't be offended if she did either I need all the help I can get dealing with neighbors and poachers. Besides if your game warden looked like ours I bet you wouldn't mind a frisking or even cuffing!

Come by any time and check us out, afterall I'm a little forgetful, and might just leave my license at home."

The only way you can see if someone has or has not used their tags is to check their license.

I've hunted the same family land off and on all my life, over 30years, and just started having the GW come by two years ago. He, and his partner, usually pay us a visit on opening weekend, stop to chat, sometimes check our licenses, and then they are on their way. I enjoy having them stop by. We get info on what neighboring properties are being hunted, what kind of deer people are taking, and anything else that might be interesting.
As for being repeatedly check, I have been checked three times in one day by the same GW on the Sabine River during the sand bass spawn. The third time he finally recognized us, but since we were on the way back to the ramp, he stopped us anyway to check our catch. Legal every time, no problems what so ever.
I do not mind encounters with a GW. I am legal, they have a job to do, and I ain't gonna make their day any more difficult.

If it's the GW from your new lease, he's doing what you asked him to do- keep an eye on the place. You just happen to be there when he keeps that eye! Could be that he knows you have two leases..... and if both are in AR counties, he may be looking for that violation.

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.
