I haven't taken the time to read thru this entire category on the THF, but I have been trying to get involved with the right organization for a while now. I am an outfitter in the Childress, Teaxs area. I am interested in offering some hunts to disabled hunters or children with illnesses or that are disabled. I have contacted someone from "Hunt of a Lifetime", and haven't ever been called back. I recently became a part of a new chapter of the NWTF here and I expect to work in the Wheelin' Sportsman Program. I'm not sure how I need to be set up or what I need to offer specifically, but I have some excellent hunting for several different species and I feel moved to try and donate as much of my service as I can afford to. If any of you could educate me on this topic, I would appreciate it, and I would like to become involved in whatever I can.
Sincerly, Chad Hassell

Yes, very cool of you to do. It means a lot. I know if it were not for COA, I would not have been able to hunt at all last year. Looking like it will be the same for this year. Its people like you helping out that make a big deifference. Thank you.

Chad.... the Make A Wish Foundation is always looking for people such as yourself. They have a lot of requests from terminally ill children that have always wanted to go hunting. My buddy is with the foundation here and says they get a lot of requests like this.
To all those that are serving and have served, let me say thanks for your service. The daughter just got another stripe a couple of weeks ago and this daddy is proud!!

TheHag, That sounds great. I was told that the Make-A-Wish foundation would no longer sponser hunts because of the killing of animals, and that was why the "Hunt of a Lifetime" organization was formed. That may be all wrong though. I'm not sure. I spoke with Cptkb a couple weeks back and he seems to be in the know, and I think we're going to be able to put something together. I appreciate all of your responses. I just think this would be a fun and rewarding thing to do. I'll keep y'all posted.

I have never been in the service, but both my grandfathers and two of my uncles and two of my cousins are either serving or have served. Chad is a great guy. He hosted myself as well as another hunter and his son with Muscular Dystrophy. We all got our deer. I was having so much fun, Chad had to let my gun cool down. These deer were awesome and beautiful blue tint. The size of the doe amazed me, and those bucks, which are for professionals would make you wet your pants. The first morning, I saw a buck, but at first I actually though it was a horse it was so big. I quit counting at 12 points and took the doe for meat which I needed. The place was beautifuls, the guys were great and Shamrock is a very nice cozy friendly town.

When a kid asks to go hunting, does the MAW Foundation say, "No, we don't like that one. Pick another wish."? That'd be kinda crappy.

If you guys don't know Chad, he is a great guy and you will have an excellent time. Last year me and another hunter with Muscular Dystrohy went up there and had a great time. Chad thought i was shooting too good. I am looking forward to coming back this year. Chad I had another 2 people call me, one with MD like me, and another that lost part of foot in an amputation. Both can get around like me. Please let me know... Thanks again Chad Jerry

Tommy, I didn't know your daughter was in the service, I guess I just never asked! I know you are very proud of her getting another stripe! I'm also am very Thankful for those who served and are serving to protect us. Chad.... the Make A Wish Foundation is always looking for people such as yourself. THE WOODS HAS MUCH TO OFFER TO THE HUMAN SOUL! Genesis 27:3 Now then, get your equipment--your quiver and bow--and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

I just read through this post and replys and wow. This is a great group of guys. I think this is awesome. My Dad is a vietnam vet and disabled. Disability came from 3 broken backs in the oil field, but the metal I saw that they dug out 28 years later was crazy. I dont serve but my Dad did and my step brother and sister are currently serving. I give it up to ya'll. I couldnt do it. The stories my Dad has told me from...sleeping in a swamp for three days..not really sleeping, snakes, spiders, traps, ambushes, and the constant rpg and metal flying by. It amazes me what ya'll went through. Thanks to all.
