Isn't there a big difference in what the lease fees go for too? Some leases use you fees for corn, feeders, food plots, camp, electricity.....

I'm on 6600 acres at $500/gun, two stands. 53 members, but only about 25 hunt...

Then again I'm in East Texas where I can hunt what I want, where I want without lease or license....right?

I'd be a vegitarian too if bacon grew on trees.

That actually sounds like a pretty darn good deal.

Yep, I agree. That's a chunk of change but you're getting a lot. Compare to some places charging $2500/gun, piled full of other hunters and only allows a buck and doe. You're actually getting a lot for what you pay.

Take that $2500 and add in the cost or protein, corn, stands, and like you said, only 2 deer...the price isn't that far off from the $5k lease listed above where most of that is provided and you get more deer.

I know of a lease in south Texas that is $12k and they have tremendous bucks. If someone told you that they pay $12k for a lease, it would seem damn high to most. But, it is on MLD and the hunters can "sell" management and doe hunts to cover their cost. Typical cull there is around 130" and it doesn't take much for them to recoup the cost and some even make money off the lease. They also sell turkey hunts and varmint hunts.

My last lease was like that. It was $6000/yr, MLD3 and you could sell deer off of your quota. You could sell to other members or you could bring a "guest" and they could kill off of your quota. Typical quota was 5 bucks and 8 does. Or you could split a spot and the quota with another person. One of the pair would be on the lease and the other would be the "guest". The guest couldn't go unless the "member" accompanied him.

I actually know of a lot of leases that are like this. I know of others that will sell you a management spot on the lease. You're only allowed managment, culls and does.

I have a buddy that is on a lease like that. He paid the trophy spot for 3 years and didn't kill anything, so he lowered to the management spot so his daughter could shoot one. Had a huge buck on camera all year. One of the other guys finally killed it rofl

I am lucky to have friends and family with land! But, I spend a lot of money on gas and licenses. I could get off cheaper by leasing one good spot for $3k a year. However, one good spot doesn't have deer, duck, goose, crane, quail, prarie chicken, pheasant, dove and turkeys. Not to mention good varmits and a elk or mulie every once in a while.

I'm on a ~300 acre lease and pay just under $500. I've only seen a couple of deer and shot one, but to me it was all I could afford and is more of an escape than anything. Before the season started, I would go and just sit in the blind for a few hours to disconnect from the world and collect my thoughts. Best money I've ever spent.

I was on a place in ETX that provided all that, except for corn on your personal area acreage. Corn and protein on the 30 or so guest stands and food plots were covered, and 9 miles of river frontage with private boat launches, cabins, bunk houses & gator tags for $500/yr, but it sky-rocketed to $900 the last year I was there. You got a total of 5 deer to shoot, could be 5 does or 3 buck/2does...or somewhere in between. MLD3..with actual turkey & quail hunting and about 2K acres of cypress swamp to shoot ducks in (along with 20 or so oxbow lakes)
