my place was full of deer this summer
the feeder had deer under it daily

now I hardly see one on my game camera

there are lots of oak trees on my place and it looks like they hit good this year and add to that there are lots of wheat fields within a mile or two from my place also

it kind of sucks, I fed them since June, provided water and mineral blocks, now maybe I won't even be able to put a couple away in the freezer

I am usually a very picky shooter. I judge does and bucks on weight and size before taking one. If I see a half way decent animal over the next few weeks, I'm not going to be picky if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean exactly! Ours do the exact same thing from all the pressure from the surrounding neighbors.

same issue on my place....loads of deer around feeders and on cameras for a good solid 2 months. then first to mid-october nothing. the guys who have been out there in the past say cows and acorns drive em away. well no cows this year but lots of acorns.

frustrating to say the least

Are you sure they haven't been chased off? Stray dogs, coyotes,tresspassers...??? Depending on acreage of your land, but I am surprised they "ALL" buggered off without reason. They are creatures of habit, and if they have food & water & cover why else would they leave?

Just my .02 $.

corn at the feeder is no match for green wheat & acorns

I think the deer I had have just moved a mile or two away or migrate to the wheat fields to eat

as far as our place goes...could be anything who knows.....hear coyotes all the time out there so probably doesnt help. have 900 acres with larger adjoining ranches around us with more cover. may need to make friends with those dudes!! theyve been seeing and shooting some dandies!!

do you have a water source on your place? If not, with the long dry spell we've been having they might just have moved closer to water.

yup
as I mentioned in my first post, I do have a water trough on an irrigation system, and they were hitting it everyday this summer

we had a 7" rain several weeks ago and some standing water is still down in the canyon on my place still, and they may be getting water from there

Deer disappeared on our place about a week before rifle opener. Before that we had herds of deer under our feeders including 4 different shooter bucks (AR county). Since then we have gotten exactly 3 photos of deer, all in the wee hours of the morning. Hopefully this little cold snap will stir 'em up.

All the deer I have seen are way to young to shoot. It is like all the shooters have disappeared.

Same story here. Deer are nocturnal and not coming to feeders like they were, before the Acorns dropped. We had Oats planted and they were tearing them up. Drought turned them brown. Now nothing.

We don't even have acorns on our place in Howard county and it is the same story for us as well. All the deer have gone nocturnal since about the opening of youth weekend.

I'm not sure just what the deal is. I'm headed to Dickens this weekend. No Acorns there, just lots of browse. We'll see what happens.

I am pretty sure that there was a posting about this shortly after opening season started. It was a mass alien abduction.
