How big is your dog? Wouldnt want your trip ruined by letting Fido run along and ending up a meal for one of the local inhabitants(coyote).

Well, I suppose you and your dog are out on your walk-about by the timetable at the beginning of this post. I hope you are enjoying yourself and you will have to let us know all the details. I love it when out-of-staters find out what Texas is all about. Hopefully if you were around the Big Bend/Davis Mtns you didn't run into any mountain lions.

Hi guys.....wandered Big Bend...overwhelmingly beautiful....explored part of Terlingua Creek ...found petrified wood, agate and cinnabar...had terrific chili rellenos at a tiny "Mex" cafe there ....everybody I met has been very friendly, including the Border Patrol, which has a strong presence from Uvalde west ....I LOVED Alpine!! What a sweet town! Coming in from the south, the town sits like a jewel in the valley below. The old Holland Hotel there is a treasure, and the young lady at the desk invited Ginger (dog) in for cookies, and set me up with my computer in a front room, and offered coffee and other drinks. She readily responded to my questions about Sul Ross University and the town itself. The hotel lobby is beautiful and inviting. I met people in Fort Davis and another town north of there. There is endless character and beauty in west TX. ....more later...

Even though I dated a genuine sweetheart - bright and beautiful - from Texarkana in the mid-60s, and have fond memories, I headed west almost immediately upon entering TX.
I had a schedule to follow, if I were to meet up with an old friend (also from the 60s) who was driving south from Colorado. But, I shall return!!!

Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it.
Don't text and drive.

Great area around Leaky and the others mentioned. Lost Maples State Park is a good one in that area.
