We have a guy who is going to cut and bale our lease because the grass is just too tall.. Do you think it's going to affect the hunting very much? I know while the Tractors are there doing the work the deer probably won't come around but everything should go back to normal when its done, right? Should only take 3-5 days to cut and bale it all..

I would think it might help, on my lease in Oklahoma last year our grass/weeds were kept cut. We had plenty off deer, this year it has gone un-attended and seems like we are not seeing the numbers we did last year.

Deer like cover-if you remove that cover, things are going to change. You say 'bale our lease'-how many acres of your lease are you talking about?

Same experience for me, have even had good luck hunting out of a tractor (parked). Cutting the grass may expose low growing forbes making them easier for the deer to get too.

Only downside I can see is if they're bedding there.

Deer are not the least bit scared of a tractor or equipment. They will be all over those fields to inspect them. Like posted above it will let sunlight get to the soil and promote forb growth.

I was raking one year, jumped a good yearling up that was bedded down on one edge of the field. He took off toward the far side and I up shifted into high gear and took after him. He stretched about 4 inches off the ground and looked to be covering 20 foot in each jump. A deer can out run a John Deere 5210 pulling a rake. He was pulling away when he hit the woods on the other side.
Cutting and bailing ain't going to hurt the hunting
