My buddy found a rattlesnake den and we were wondering what was the best way to get all of them with cooler weather? I have gassed a few snakes under an old barn but it was a little warmer then. Any ideas how to get them all out? He killed one and saw four more at the opening of the den.

I don't think it matters if it is cold when you gas them, just wait til it cools down a little more so they are moving a little slower

Diesel and a match is much safer. Gas can be a little expolsive poured in a hole.

Wait a little longer until they are all in there and I'll come get them.

No we don't want to blow them up. We are going to either catch them or shoot them. So I'm guessing just wait until its gets a little colder then gas them out?

Use a spray rig, don't dump it. I have gassed plenty of pits and caught some big snakes. They didn't die

As long as too much gas isn't sprayed they won't die. Like I said I have only gassed a few snakes before and there was only one snake at each hole. Any pointers on multiple snakes? My buddy killed one and saw four more at the opening. Any guesses on how many there could be?

Where is it? A hole in a hill side, old cellar? If I can safely enter a den I won't use any gas. If entering isn't possible, then I'll gas.

Use a pump spray rig with the hose that pumps the liquid removed. By removing the suction hose and with the tank not full, you're just pumping fumes, which kills far less snakes. I'll fill my tank about half way up then pump the crap out of it and shake it up good to make lots of fumes. Use a hose to get it down in the den as far as you can, I like copper tubing. Start slow, only use as much gas as you need to, to make them move. Take a few buddies, y'all need snake boots or chaps and good tongs or snake hooks, also a snake box to put them in, be ready. I've seen 100 snakes come out of what I thought were small dens. BE CAREFUL.

Call if y'all need help, me and txshntr will help out. It's lots of fun.

I was one time scouting on top of this huge rock on a hill one time and i happened to shift the rock by accident. Bad move... Snakes were coming from under that rock in all directions. I must have killed 20 snakes with a 22 and a 9mm, Made a path through them and ran! Came back and picked up 50 alive. And i didnt even gas them out so I bet there are more there! BE CAREFUL OUT THERE! Those things can fling themselves at you farther than you think. Good luck up

I don't know what we will do with them. If there are any real big ones I will probably skin them and tan the skin. Any ideas what to do with them?
