Update: After a long conversation with my dad last night, he said that after reading the story 10 times he felt that the story made him seem like a bad parent.
The constant ridicule, the laughing at my torment, calling all of his buddies to tell them about my misfortunes. He said he wanted to make it up to me.

He wanted to cover an all expenses paid "shoulder mount". He sent me a sample of his buddies work and this was the picture I received in the email.

My dad used to tell me the loudest sound you hear in the woods is a "click" when you expected a "BANG".
He used to go hunting in Colorado every year, driving from south Texas with a couple of friends. He made the trip one time, left out of camp before dawn and hiked almost a mile to his hunting spot. Right after sunup, he saw the biggest deer ever, raised his trusty Mauser and pulled the trigger. "CLICK". He realized he forgot to load it, and all his ammo was back in camp, a mile away through the snow. He went back, picked up his bullets, and hiked back. He never saw the monster buck again, but managed to shoot a nice deer later.
His buddies gave him grief all the way back home to Texas. As soon as he got home, he took the rifle to the garage, took off the buttplate, and drilled two holes into the stock big enough to hold a couple of cartridges. Every year, he would pull those cartridges out and use them for target practice, and put fresh bullets in their place. He never needed them again, but if he had.....

lol. I can truly relate, and I feel for him. However, these stories are sure make sir great THF reads and great around the camp fire.
