A 120 wt buck or axis doe...the doe goes home with me for dinner! Killed wt deer many times but for eating the axis wins out.

I don't normally shoot deer, but when I do I shoot axis. Stay hungery my friends.

If you purchase jerky or venison sausage in the store from venison, chances are it's from Axis..The meat has a much better quality than Whitetail, and there's a lot more of it per animal.
Bernards Meat from Kerrville used to come over here and shoot Axis for their dry jerky at Alkek's and used a 223 rifle silenced
and processed it right there into a ref. truck...No coparison on
quality or amount per animal..Axis are also grazers instead of primarily browsers as are Whitetail..Don

Ranchman I have been thinking about what you said about those who like axis more than WT. You seem to be of the opinion that those who like the axis more are just not good cooks. If that is the case you must be able to make a cheap round steak more platible than an aged rib eye. Is that what I get out of this?

Axis is far superior on to white tail. And I do know how to cook.

Axis hands down! Me, the wife and girls make at least one Axis hunt a yr. just to fill the freezer. Horns are optional.
