I bought a 7mm-08 BAR Short Trac for my girls to hunt with this fall, I know it's more than capable to handle Whitetails, my ammo is handl loaded w 150gr Tipped Tripple Shock bullets. Both my girls are very comfortable w the new firearm, but they want to head to Tx for a Exotic maybe a Axis or Black Buck? Question will the 7-08 handle the Exotics? Iv shot Axis, BB, Eland w a 300 Win Mag loaded w the TTS and no problem. Just not had enough field time with the 7-08 yet? Any you guys use one? Thanks in advance

Yes, the 7-08 will take an axis. I've killed them myself with the 08.

Yea, a 150gr bonded bullet from an 08 will take down elk size game.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

They should be covered well. Kaycee BMD's daughter has used her 7mm-08 for whitetail, Oryx, and Zebra that I know of with 120gr TSX. I have been hunting for 30 years with the 7mm-08 and would have no problem using it inside 300 yards for Elk with a good bullet. Have taken enough whitetails and hogs to have full confidence in the round.

Might want to go a little lighter on the ttsx since Barnes bullets like velocity to perform the best.

the 7mm-08 is one helluva all around caliber. at my age, dont have an urge or a use for magnums, wsms or anything like that, unless you just got to have a shoulder bruiser or go with a muzzle brake and its added cons. I have retired all my larger calibers....done given most to the younger ones.

those 7mm (.284") bullets will bounce off.
Seriously, if it isn't .30" and it isn't a belted magnum, it is not gonna result in a quick kill. Just a slow, painful, immoral death that reflects poorly on the shooter, his family, and his sector in the galaxy in general for letting people use some miniscule rounds to hunt such a difficult to kill and cunning animal as an axis.
Black buck, require a 45-70 at least.
. . . yes, I'm kidding. Have fun hunting.
