OK guys ... here are some real pics of BIG axis. No misleading camera angles, no staged shots, etc. Use these to do your comparisons - and you be the judge. A true 40" axis - look at the foreleg/mainbeam and brow/mainbeam comparisons. This is a on-the-hoof pic of a FREERANGE axis near Rocksprings. Here's a pic that someone posted a while back. And yes, this IS an axis, not a cow. You can see the stubs. I believe this axis will go 300 lbs. You can believe these photos or not ... but I think they can be used to compare against claims. IMHO.

Why is he walking around John ???? Only one reason - Cuz I didn't have permission. The location will remain a tightly held secret. The game cam isn't mine - I just saved it for reference. Just to be clear, these are not my animals nor my pics. I just see so many claims of 40" axis that are not. Trust me, when you see a real one, it will blow you away. I've seen hundreds of 36-38" axis - and I love 'em, they're awesome animals.

I haven't seen the amount of trophy axis as you have, but trust me, I had the exact same reaction just by looking at this pic.

That's 2 great pics and an awesome buck none the less..but I have a hard time putting him at 40" I see a 37-38" buck but that's just me. pushing 300lbs is very likely on the other picture as I have taken 2 bucks off our place that were all over the 300lb mark. I can say I wouldn't worry about the 1-2" on the buck though if he walked out.

It's going to take someone shooting one on video, walking up to it with a steel tape measure and an official SCI Master Measurer to score it on the video for some to believe that its a 40" + buck. IMO. No doubt that this axis buck is a big one for sure!

I agree, that it will take shooting one that is officially measured and entered into the record books, for people to believe. The one shown, has the potential to reach 40" depending on the curve, which is hard to judge from the photo. I will say it the most impressive picture of an Axis I've seen.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

I seen a 40 incher taken this year on the Lazy B Ranch out of Mountain Home, Dalton Bannister was the guide, the Buck was not very wide but was 40+ on both sides, photos of it was posted here in May/June of this year

ok my dream hunt is an axis and I'm a wounded warrior and I have never had it and I have always it is the best and I would love to show my sister that BAMBI is better dead than alive, haha no nut for real if anyone can help me out and get me on the right path to catch one I don't have a huge amount of money I was medically retired from the army and have just bought my first house so I'm willing to pay for one but at the same time it just has to be cheap in away

There are many places that have axis doe hunts that are pretty inexpensive. I eat almost exclusively axis meat and shoot a lot of axis does during the course of a year. That's one reason I've gotten so good at judging axis, because I am often sitting in a stand or blind and watching all these bucks walk by that I am not shooting.
