Years ago, I hunted in a group of 5 for deer every fall in the woods of W.VA. It was fun, had good times...and I looked forward to fall to meet up with the guys. As I moved away..I started arranging hunting trips with new friends here in TX and over time..started to regret this decision. Reason: your almost like a guide/outfitter and people expected you to put them on game and set up dates, places, and accomodations. I set up dove hunts, duck hunts, hog hunts, fishing trips, and deer hunts. Over time, I was getting bored with it and the ribbing I took. Now, I mostly hunt alone or with my oldest daughter. We have good times. My new friends bug me to set up hunts...but I choose not to do this anymore. I guess I'm getting older and grumpier. So I ask everyone...do you prefer group hunts or lone hunts?

I prefer to hunt with just one or two friends. But not really in groups unless it's dove or quail hunting. Don't much like hunting alone simply because I don't like not being able to share the richness of the experience with somebody.

I still do both. I can't say which I prefer so no vote for me.

I voted group but my group consists of 2-3 good buddies, my wife and my dad (when we get a chance).

I do prefer to hunt with one or two people most of the time.

Some people are lone wolves while others enjoy working with the pack.

I like bird hunts in groups and deer hunts with no more than a cpl in the party.

When I am hunting 2 is company and 3 is a crowd.

Birds I prefer a group, especially dove which I consider a social event.

Deer and turkey I enjoy hunts with others but am much more successful in harvesting one when hunting alone. Like to keep grould for these target species small though

I like bird hunting in a group, but I prefer deer hunting alone. I like coming back to camp and visiting with buddies/fellow hunters, but the actual hunting part I like doing alone.

Almost a 3 to 1 response for lone hunting. Don't get me wrong though, I'll dove/duck hunt in a group as this seems more of a social hunt. But I'm not setting up anymore hunts. I'm hoping some of my new friends here take the initiative to become to "go-to" man for arranging hunting trips.

We hunt in a lonely group.

I didnt vote because I can go either way on this one.

When I have a gun in my hand I want to be alone though.....just me versus the prey. After the hunt I like to come back to a group of people and listen and share our stories, cook, and hang out.

Fishing I can go either way as well. I enjoy solo trips just as much as having 1 or 2 other people in the boat with me. I tend to be more focused when I am alone though.

I voted group, but my group does not consider of more than three people anymore.

My first ever hunt there was seven of us. It didn't go well. One guy who had been out many times before got arrogant and started shooting at everything. He missed everything and scared off anything out there so nobody else had a chance.

The poll needs an option for both. I deer hunt alone. I enjoy the silence. Gives me time to think about life and how blessed I am. HOg hunting is a group effort. Whether we are running dogs or gun hunting, there is always a group. If I bird hunted, I would probably go with friends.

I love to hunt alone, but with age comes health problems, good thing for cell phones, dont want to become coyote food. a few years ago an old friend of mine didnt come back to camp, they found him with his rifle across his arms, on his belly, apparently sneakin up on a deer. died of heart attack I think.
