I am considering setting up horse fence to keep out the hogs. In the past I used hog panel and it worked well. The problem is that hog panel is going to be difficult dragging to the setup. So, do you think a roll of horse fence would work?

it will work fine, you'll probably just need more T-posts to reinforce it.

you may need to stake the bottom wire. if they get thier nose under the wire they can get in.

It will be harder to stretch and keep tight since the length of the sides is short. You will need better corners to keep it tight. When I build pens I attach a rope to the panels and pull them with a Ranger, Mule or truck to my pen site.

I used field fence around a couple of my feeders with T posts about 8 ft. apart. I tried to pull it tight with my Mule before attaching to T posts and I have had no problems with hogs since.

One thing I would do if using net wire fencing is set whatever corners I am using and stretch the wire as tight as I can. Make sure they are not going to give any. Then take and pull/push wire outwards from the center of the pen and then drive in my t-posts. It will make the wire much tighter and a little larger in size also.

When we hunted in the hill contry we made feed pens out of 4x12 sheep and goat netting. If the wire was loose you would have problems. We had a fence streacher and were always able to use oak/elms trees of good size for corners. Streach it tight and stake the bottom strand with some rebar and got several years out of them before we got off the lease.

we stretched some of ours with the 4wheeler winch, and eventually the t posts gave just enough for hogs to go underneath if they were persistent
