Subject sez it all. I have 3 different digital cameras, an old and new Iphone, Kindle Fire, and a Ipod Touch in the house hold and can't figure out a way to view my SD card from my game cam without taking a laptop hunting with me. I like technology, but I do not want to bring a laptop hunting with me. All camera give me a format error or no files found. Can't find adapters for apple or kindle stuff.
What do you do? Mike

What size cards are you using? If the cards are over 2gb, a lot of devices won't read them. You may just need to bite the bullet and get a viewer for around $65. I finally broke down and just started hauling my laptop with me.

8G card. I will prob end up spending more than $65 on stuff that WONT work before I break down and buy the viewer. That is usually how it works!!!

we use a mini viewer also and it works good, nice zoom in options and the size of a regular digital camera.

I was told there is a new after market plug in for sd card on your iPhone. Haven't looked yet

Exactly what I am looking for. Did not see that in my searches. I just noticed my Pantech phone takes a microSD card. Will see if that works tonight.

The apple card reader will not work on an iPhone. have tried it and researched it. The iPhone does not have the software drivers to load the card reader. It only works on the iPad and even on it some ppl have problems. Don't buy the apple card reader unless you have an iPad and have time to learn tricks to troubleshoot it to make it work every time.

The cards that are 4gb and up are formatted fat32. Some older cameras and phones have problems reading that format. You can not format the high capacity cards(4gb+) to be the old formatting. The old formatting is fat16 and fat.
You can buy a android tablet and they read everything and have their own USB put to use a USB card reader or try a different camera. But that's a lot of money.
The best thing is to have an extra card and put it in and take the used one home to check it on your computer.
I didn't mean to dog apple in my above post.
I'll research about the kindle fire.

From my little research there is no easy small way to read your SD card pics on your kindle fire.

It's not much cheaper, but some folks buy the digital picture frames. At least they are bigger than the other SD Viewers. I bought an SD reader for my Ipad from Amazon for $2.50 - works great!

We just have a spare sd card for each camera. Take the cards back to camp and load onto laptop or iPad. Erase when done and ready for the next trip out. Cheaper than a field viewer.

I bought a $69 rechargeable DVD player that has a SD slot. We used that for a while then when we got a generator for camp we bought a LCD tv with SD slot. Now we just keep a extra set of chips and go back to camp to view pictures.

Game camera is a Wildview 8XIR, wondering if the format used is the problem. Tried too many different devices as I mentioned before. Also tried my Pantech phone and it would not read to card. I am trying to read videos and not still pics bc the videos come out much better at night than still pics and I have nocturnal vampire hogs only. Nothing moves on our property during the day!
Thanks for all the input guys!
Mike
