My wife and I finally made it to Pecan Lodge BBQ in the Dallas Farmers Market today. After an hour waiting in line I was ready for some great BBQ. Not so much. I got the three meat plate ribs, brisket, sausage and Mac & cheese. I got two tiny ribs from the end of the rack and the bark on them was so salty my wife could only eat one. The brisket was excellent, good flavor and very juicy. The sausage was different and a little to salty but OK. The BBQ sauce was similar to Hard 8's sauce but again to salty and I could not eat it. The mac and cheese was OK. For me the brisket was the only item worth eating. It certainly was not worth the $35 bucks we spent.

Was that $35 for 1 or 2 three meat plates ?

The $35 was for one two meat and one three meat. Two waters and a coke.

Same here. Thanks for the heads up. After all the media hype(food network, Texas Monthly, and Channel 8) about this place, I really wanted to try this place. I think I will pass now.

From what I understand from others as well, the recent surge in business has caused the quality to lapse some in favor of getting out more product. I tried it before all the hype and it was real good. I took my Dad there afterward and it was pretty good but, same gripe, salty. I'll let it die down a good while before I go for round three.

If you like ribs stop by the Longhorn Smoke house about 4 miles north of Big Sandy oh Hwy. 155. I've tried them all. Only thing that will compare is Central BBQ in Memphis.
