Your game meat should never have a wild taste. I've processed over 100 deer myself and have never had anyone say anything negative about the taste of my game meat. Most people say it's hard to tell it from beef. Processors might cut corners because they have so much to do and you don't get a good product. Do it yourself. Expensive up front cost to get the equipment but will pay for itself after you process 5-6 deer. Happy to give tips I've learned through the years.

I am with you, I process all my meat. Don't know if I have done a hundred yet, but not more than 2 shy of it!

I can recomend Teel's Custom Meats in Weatherford. I grind all my whitetails into hamburger with 20% beef suet added. I prefer it over beef or venison. They do a fine job for me. Fom

Nicholson's in Mertzon, TX is amazing! They'll add anything you want to your meat, plus they are super friendly when it comes to working with hunters on pick up times. Quick turn around as well!

Kenny Freds deer processing in Bluff Dale, Stephanie and her crew do great work at a fair price . Her hunters come from all over, they even bring deer from hours away.
