One of the coolest little critters on the planet. Sure wish we still had some around here.

I have always thought the horned toad thinks he is ten times his actual self.

Had them all over a lease in Coke county. Cool little buggers. Caught one, brought it home and fed it crickets. Then found out you weren't allowed to do that. Took it back down there and released it. It ran out there about 20' to a red ant mound and started lapping them up.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Used to see them all the time growing up in the early 60s. Then, they completely disappeared. Heard it was either the use of DDT or the invasion of fire ants. Now, seeing some at my land in Baylor county. If they eat Harvester ants, should be no problem thriving out at my place.

I think I have seen one of them in East Texas before. I will have to go look up their natural range. With a lot of the guys around working in the oil fields around here, I would not be suppries if one hitch hiked back to East Texas.....

Those things used to be all of my grandfathers garden in Dallas. When I was a little kid I would try to catch them. It was rare that I caught one. Those things are FAST!!!

We used to catch them in Dallas back in the 60s...You can rub their belly and put them to sleep and then make them stand on their head, funny as heck to see.

Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it.

I took this picture last time we were down at the place. We dont see them all the time, but we have seen several in the past couple years. My picture isnt as good though. Not sure if this one was laying eggs or what, but it was really fat and slugish, he was in the middle of the road, so I feel lucky we didnt run him over. I relocated him after the pic.
