I always wondered if left hand soldiers had to use right hand guns.....especially in the old days(WWII)

In years past, a left-handed person would literally be forced to learn to do everything right handed. In elementary school (late 1940s-early 1950s), my father's left hand was tied to his desk until he ultimately learned to use his right hand for writing and everything else. He similarly learned to shoot right-handed.

Most left handers use right handed AR-15s just fine. There are a few left handed ARs out there, and none of them are worth anything.

I think what he meant was in terms of actual resale value and time it takes to sell it. If you sell a right handed AR15 (or really any firearm) then every right handed person and 95% or more of left handed shooters are fine with it and will buy/use it. Most left handers don't buy left handed ARs (or any weapons for that matter), they learned to shoot the right handed ones and get by just fine with them. One of my sons is left handed, the other right handed but left eye dominant - but both shoot right handed guns.
If you have a left handed AR (or any such weapon) to shoot you limit your buying audience to not only just lefty's but only those that choose to shoot left handed weapons (an even smaller minority).

I shoot left handed and have shot M-16/ARs, M60, tons of bolt actions and shotguns. The only thing I didn't like was a Remington 1100 cause they always blew powder back in my eyes. The M-16/AR has a concession for leftys, in the way of a brass deflector behind the ejection port.
I broke down last year, after 42 years, and got my first left handed bolt action. I won't buy another one, I just can't work it as smoothly as I work work the right handed ones.

Some right handed shooters have been converting to LH bolt guns so they don't have to move the gun from the shoulder pocket.

Some right handed shooters have been converting to LH bolt guns so they don't have to move the gun from the shoulder pocket. That's my biggest complaint of the left handed rifle I got last year, I am just so used to throwing up my right hand and working the bolt while it remains in my left shoulder pocket, not I am trying to do the same a fumbling it all up using my left hand. Going to list my left handed browning stainless stalker in 25-06 on here soon.

First, if you are practiced and know how to keep a rifle in your shoulder pocket with the fore arm hand then you can cycle the bolt fine without any trouble.
Second, it's the same for me with reels. The right hand is supposed to be my strong hand but I can't reel for nothing with it. Anyone wanna buy a left handed reel?

When I was in Army Basic Training, the left handed shooters would be issued a deflector attachment for use on the standard M16A2, so they wouldn't get pegged in the face. At my permanent duty station I carried a M9 which I think was ambidextrous, but it's been awhile and that was my last use of a Beretta. Other weapons like the M2, isn't really designed around right or left. One instance of a Lefty have to learn to shoot right handed was the AT4 which was a different form alltogether from a rifle. I don't recall the M249 SAW, I was in training when the M60 was still in use. Anyways, there's tons more I'm leaving off, this my my experience with some general military weapons, though.

M60 was a dream to shoot left handed. To this day if you asked whether I wanted to deal with the bulk and weight of a 60, or carry a M249, I would choose the M60 everytime.

I'm with you Chuck, I'm a 7.62 fan. Our drill instructors told us one of the reasons for the 5.56 is simply to injure enemy troops in and attack. When I was in the Middle East, thank God I never had to fire on a human, but I wasn't gearing up to wound.
