I have a stevens action with a savage heavy barrel in 223. It is a model 10 or similar. The last round does not feed into the chamber correctly. It "misses" it and strikes just outside of the chamber shearing off part of the bullet, soft nose. This of course destroys accuracy. All the previous rounds feed fine, just the last one screws up. Any ideas?

sounds like a weak or compressed feed spring in the magazine

Most mags have a W shaped spring under follower. Is it possible the spring is turned the wrong way causing mis- feed.?

okay discovered the problem, one of the "ears" on the stamped magazine was broken. The front one. I ordered a replacement from midway and broke that one trying to get it in. Is there some gunsmith mojo yall could share for getting this in without four letter words and a big hammer. Basically it is two opposing slots in the bottom of the action. One would think that it would slide in from the side, but that feed ramps are too tall for that. I called savage and the lady I talked to said to pry it in with a bit flat head screw driver.... I tried that too and it didn't work. I tried using a c clamp to compress it but I altered the feed ramps when I got close but still could not get it in. I tried bending the front one a little to gain some clearance and it snapped off, huh. Must have happend to the previous owner too. So what do you guys think.
