My teenage daughter is going on a youth turkey hunt with my 835 12 ga. What is a good 2&3/4" turkey load? I have never turkey hunted and know nothing about it. Thanks

Remington HD #6 works pretty good usually, If go lead shot I have killed a lot of turkey with Remington and Winchester #5s and 6s using 2 3/4 hard shot buffered loads.

Helps if you can pattern your shotgun with several and use the ones that shoot the best tight pattern. Also lets you know how close you have to get the turkey before shooting it.

What kmon1 said. My shotguns pattern very differently with different shells. Hope she has a blast and gets a gobbler.

Yeah, I intend on patterning the gun before she goes. I am just looking for a starting place. I could buy her a new 20ga for what it would cost to buy and test all the rounds available! lol Thanks for the imput. I will prolly try the three most recomended rounds.

Remember, the head and neck are the killing spots. Hit it in the chest, he might go down, but he will also get back up and run. Also, when you put a killing shot on him he will be flapping around for a while. Sorta like a chicken after loosing its head. only flapping, not running. Good luck.
