Went out to a small WMA today to do some scouting for my kids to hunt hogs on. I was thoroughly disgusted at the condition of the place! Trash , tires , and even sets of mattresses as far as I could see along the road front! I just dropped a lease due to people stealing trail cams and hunting over the food plots they planted and worked themselves. We teach our kids to do things right and be good stewards just to have them show up to hunt , and excited to check their pics. just to find their cams gone and beer cans and cig. butts in their stands. Sorry about the rant, the reason for this post is to ask a question. If my family volunteers to clean up this area, will TPWD provide a dumpster on the location for us , or will we be charged for the disposal?

I would contact TPWD and express your concerns and what you are willing to do. If they can't help call the county and see if they can steer you in the right directions. Maybe get a group of volunteers to help you out. I have seen sign along stretches of HWY's that say "This section of road for x miles is clean by XYZ Ranch or Group. I have been to some WMA and state parks and know exactly what you mean.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I'm sure the inmates will be out to pick it up sometime. They gotta do something to work off my hard earned tax dollars that house and feed their sorry arses.

bigatex, convicts have more rights than you and I. With the number of convicts locked up in Texas there should never be any state property trashy. but don't look for that to happen anytime soon.

My children and I clean our county road about once a month just because it needs to be done and it is good for them to learn how to contribute to society without expecting reward. The trash at this place is from years of negligence I doubt they will decide to send inmates out now.

If you call TPWD, I would call the local GW, not a regional office. If you just call some office, you're likely to get a person who just knows what the official rules are and will quote them. A GW is probably more likely to get the ball rolling if there's a way.

With TPWD facing a $4mil shortfall, I doubt they would want to fit the bill for a dumpster.
Maybe you can get Wastemanagement PR department would work with TPWD and donate the dumpster's use for free.

Sounds like a good Boy Scout project. Contact a local Boy Scout group. And you can buy those disposal dumpsters from Lowes.
both my boys did projects like that for their Eagle Scout project.
I'd be willing to donate money toward the project and I bet so would a lot of other people on here, Just send me a PM.

I've found that most of the time trash and beer bottles are not from hunters but from kids going out to have a good time. I hunt on the Brazos River south of the damn at P.K. On Hwy 16 and seen where kids with shotguns left trash coke and beer bottles all over the place. I will say something when I see it, but most of the time they have left before I could say something.
Not all, but the average hunter takes care of the environment, I suspect it's not hunters.

Same here, went to a WMA this morning to scout and hog hunt. Just as soon as I pulled up, parking area was trashed. When i was walking the trail, was finding beer cans used as targets, even found someones blind, made with angleiron and plywood used as target practice. As I was driving home I was thimking the same thing as JB33, maybe the TPWD needs to do some cleanup on their areas or maybe barter it out for some hunts. Just my opinion.

i like the idea of the inmates but how about the people on welfare earning there monthly checks or food stamps. then maybe they would get off there lazy asses and find a job and be willing to work.

You are right , it is not hunters that pay for the use of these lands that are the culprit in cases like this one. It is a flat out dump site for trashy people. I spoke to the local biologist Friday and he is going to see if they will work on getting a dumpster provided for me.
