I need some help with my food plot. I have approx. 2+ acres that I intend to make a summer plot out of, my questions are how much fertilizer should I put on it per acre and how many pounds of Iron & Clay peas per acre? Soil sample has been done but no way for me to lime as needed. No one in area will do such a small area and no one handles bagged lime.

Check into liquid calcium to help offset the low ph. If you are not to far out of line with the ph then search on-line for it. I used with good results. You mix it with water and then spray it on either tilled soil and till in or onto growing plants. I would plant at least 25#-40#/acre Iron and Clays. If you want more plants per acre then add some Pinto Beans to them and plant.

Dlallder most Tractor Supply Company's that I have been in in East Texas have lime in 40lb bags. I buy at the one in Mineola on my way to Gilmer.

stxranchman, is that 25-40# broadcast or in a seeder? That would be drilled or row planted so if broadcasting you could go up to 50# if you wanted.

Lowe's in Sulphur Springs carries the bagged lime, but you might check with a feed store or coop in the area. I get my lime (bulk) a lot cheaper at the coop in Sulphur Springs and they will let you use a buggy at no charge (assuming you have a tractor at the property to spread with). If I remember correctly, you can get either 4 or 6 tons in a buggy in one load. Just pull with truck to property, unhook from truck, hook up to tractor and spread, return buggy. If you don't have a tractor, you might want to compare price on bagged lime between Lowe's and coop in SS.

Me personally, I would use Imperial Whitetail "power plant", and in the summer its better to under fertilize.
I been doing the food plot thing about 8 years in the post oak/east texas region and thats what works for me.
Good Luck

I found lime in the bag either pellet of powder but at the price they want I am going to pass on lime. $8/40#--pellet, $8/50#--powder. My soil sample showed a ton per acre was needed.

If you have a farm chemical company like Helena Chemical talk to them about using liquid calcium to amend the low PH or what else to use on smaller acreage.
