I had a gun dealer order a 7.62x51 dpms on 7/6/11 3-4 month wait not a problem.I check back with him 10/28/11 he calls them while I'm standing there and they tell him 4wks but not more than 6wks.Well 4 wks is Thanksgiving week so I figured that wasn't likely so I wait till 12/8(6wks)and he calls them again This time they tell him it'll be another 4-6 wks IF it makes it in the rotation for 308 barrels.I called today and the guy says if you change from base model and add extras it takes longer so I said so I should have ordered the standard model and added the extras myself and he says NO.Well thats my rant but my ? is are they worth waiting for or is this just an indication of thier service/quality (I haven't spent a dime on it yet and the dealer says if I don't want it someone will)

Seems like a dealer issue.

Coming from someone that owns a DPMS...I wouldn't wait for a DPMS. Just buy it at any gun show or off Gunbroker if you really want it. Seems like DPMS 308s are everywhere and they're the cheapest AR platform in 308. There's really nothing special about them. Now if you're talking about a Larue, LWRC, LMT or even Rock River I'd wait for it. But for DPMS...no

Rock River quoted me 60-90 days on black friday. I ordered the R-25 out of distribution and had it 3 days later. R-25 might be a little more expensive but it is the same gun as the DPMS with a cammo dip. So far my only complaint is the trigger, feels like 1/8 " of creep, hits a wall like a two stage and breaks at 4.5 lbs. They call it a single stage, I am debating tossing the trigger and adding a drop in or sending it off to the smith. I have only shot it twice, sighted it in at 100 and then took it out to a 50 yard range. I could clover leaf at 50 yards no problem.

Rock Rivers Lead time on .308s is rediculas, We received a gun today we ordered back in the first half of August.

With DPMS I would ask the guy politely if he has access to any distributors that carry the same model in stock ready to ship. I he says no go home and start calling around or go to a gun show. I had one of the R-25's and after a good honeing to smooth out some rough spots thigger was good enough for me. So i definately recommend them up

DPMS are caught up for the most part. If you want one from me, I can have it in a day. This is true for most common models, like Oracles etc.

I love my DPMS, about to replace the trigger, my only real concern. It is very accurate and cycles anything I put through it. But having to wait is a pain, I am going to Independance firearms today, big gun store near Brenham Tx., and I will ask them about thier stock, They had 15-20 when I bought mine in August.Good luck.
