Just got it in and assembled it in about 20 minutes. For Texas game this should fit the bill. They say 300 lb limit....I'm thinking more like 200-220 lbs. It swivels 360 degrees and appears to be stout enough for gutting and skinning. On my truck the height of the top crossarm is about 8'. It will be a bit lower on the Ranger Polaris. Got it on Amazon with free shipping.

That would be great to mount on the back of a four wheeler for a solo hunter to aid in bringing their game back to camp.

I have been considering getting one too. Let us know how you like using it when you get your next deer/hog.

X2 I'm interested to know how it performs as well.

With the receiver hitch it just takes a minute or less to install it and place the pin, and then lift whatever your going to lift and take it down by simply pulling the pin.

You can drive around with it if you are just going a short distance say from camp to across the field to pick up a deer/hog and back, but over ditches and creeks and hills I would just take it down until you get where you are going. No need to have it stressing out the hitch connection from swinging back and forth for no reason.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

You couldn't build one yourself with all those parts and materials for that price I don't think.

No need to drive around with it hanging....it rotates so you can drop the animal in the bed. Plus most UTV's have a fairly low vertical load rating on the hitch...like 150 lbs on the ranger. I'm sure there was a safety factor designed in that...but I don't know what it is.

I've struggled and strained with three deer so far this year trying to get them into a pickup bed, and I'm not getting any younger, and the deer seem to be getting heavier.

That hoist is at the top of my list!

Another one of those, "ah hell, why didn't I think of that?" items.

Update!! Had to pickup a 170 lb toolbox from Lowes. While the hoist lifted it and swung it into the bed, I was not happy with the winch brake mechanism. I removed the old winch and bought a $24 1000 lb ratcheting winch from Northern Tools. It works great now. I believe 200-210 lbs is about all it will usefully handle. But in my 40 plus years hunting in Texas..I can't recall shooting a 200 lb deer. As far as hogs go... I'll keep anything under 100 lbs and let the yotes have anything larger.

That's a very good price on that hoist. Mine cost a good bit more but at whatever price they are REALLY, REALLY worth it. I hunt alone alot of the time and this is what makes it possible for me because with one of these it is easy to dress and handle the deer alone. When you are done, just swivel it into the bed. I have been using one now for 4 years.

Here is a link to the one I have and a couple of photos with this years bucks - first one was mine and the second was my sons.

Deer Hoist

Mine breaks down into two parts. I just carry it in the rear of the extended cab between the seats all during hunting season. Oh yeah, good for picture posing too smile

Looks pretty good. I just finished my heavy duty with electric winch build. Have a bit more in it due to the odds and ends but glad that one appeared to work out for you.

Any idea of the thickness of the tubing?

below are some more pics and what it does. pretty cool I thought.

The Game Kaddy - Style#GL196
The Kaddy attaches to most ATV's and cargo Carriers (or 2" hitch with adapter
Attaches to front or back basket or rack
300lb. capacity
The lifting power is generated through the ATV's forward power and the use of a "lifting leg" as a fulcrum to force the Kaddy cradle (with your trophy animal) on it upward
Can be used as cargo carrier for your tree stand or other bulky items
