Hello fellow TX hunters. It feels good to almost be back in the woods. I am a slodier and haven't had the chance to hunt in a while due to overseas assignments and deployments. I am still in Afghanistan as a matter of fact but I am on real short time here. The hunt has already started in my head. I recieved my first ever doe permit for ALABAMA CREEK WMA. I feel as if the deer gods are already smiling on me, so I am excited. I usually hunt Davy Crockett from RATCLIFF PARK but since it's closure and my doe permit for ALABAMA WMA, I will be hunting the WMA for the first time. Any suggestions and coments on the management area would be awesome. I have read good things so far about this area. Never been to one of the HUNTER CAMPS in the forest either so info would be apretiated. THANKS

Thanks ya, you have no idea how excited I am. Heck I was on the GANDER MOUNTAIN websight for 4 hours yesterday getting the basics sent to the house. Amazing how far your mind can wonder when your thinkin about the woods, even though I am still in the desert. Gonna be a good year.

I squirrel hunt Alabama Creek with my dogs from time to time. If you go down forest road 510-B to the old duck marsh and hunt the edge of it, you shouldn't have a problem filling your tag.

Thanks for the info, I have been studying the map and had already decided that the river looks really promising, thanks for the re-assurance.

Thanks for the info, I will definately take your recomendations to heart, can't wait. We have around two weeks left in country here in Taliban territory, then its straight to the woods.
