Well guys…..to say we had a successful weekend would be a MASSIVE understatement. I tagged along with a group of friends and clients on a corporate hunt at one of my ranches just north of Fredericksburg. We took six trophy animals: two Scimitar Horned Oryx, two Axis, one Fallow, and one Whitetail.

Three of these animals were exceptional specimens. One of the Scimitar Horned Oryx will likely be in the Top 10 ever killed!! It was a bull with horns measuring 45 2/8” x 44 0/8” respectively (as far as I know, the world record is 48"). The only Whitetail killed was a HUGE buck measuring 191 3/8” gross (inside spread of 23.5”). We also took an Axis buck with the longest browtines I have ever seen or heard of…..18 inches!!

I hope you all enjoy the photos. The hunt was an absolute blast!!

Dave’s mature Fallow buck….

Richard’s MASSIVE 45” Oryx bull….

Greg’s huge 191 3/8” Whitetail….

Greg is 6’ 9”….only he can make a 190 class Whitetail look small. Haha.

Loading Greg’s buck….225 lbs

Billy’s Axis with 18” browtines….

Another view of Greg’s buck….

Grevy’s Zebra (protected)….

MASSIVE main-frame 9 point, estimated at 180”+

Animals in the cooler….

Those are some excellent trophies. That Axis is the darndest thing I have ever seen. When you said 18" brow tines, I expected the main beams to be in the mid to upper 30's. Great job!

HAHA!! Yeah Greg is really tall. That actually isn't me in the photo standing next to him, that's one of the guides. But the guide is roughly the same height as me. Greg is 6' 9" and I'm 5' 10"....so he literally has almost a foot on me.

I have known him for years and he is one of the funniest and nicest guys I've ever met.

So is the Zebra just like the ranch mascot?

Those are two different Zebras in those pictures. One is a stallion and the other is a mare.

Grevy's Zebra are protected because they are on the endangered species list....

This ranch has about 10 of them in a small section of the property.

Oh, didn't realize those were two separate animals at first. Now I see it! That's cool that they have a few as a great potential gene pool!

Unbelievable Oryx. I hope to shoot one next weekend, but it won't be that nice!

Great hunt, congrats to the hunters.
I'm assuming that your ranch is an MLD property, considering that your client/friend took that 190" buck with a rifle.....

nah, we all say eff the law and shoot what we want with what we want.....

seriously, why even ask that question?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Those are some huge animals

A hunt based on only trophies being taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be,time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there. -Fred Bear

Thats funny, great answer. It amazes me how many people like to self police everyone else. Great looking animals and congrats to the hunters!

That's an absolutely incredible scimitar. In the first picture it looks big but not huge. That is until the next picture and you realize the guy in the picture makes king kong look small. Nice animals!
