Each time I get my bow out, my first 2-3 shots use to be the most accurate. However for about a month my 1st or 2nd shot either sail so high it misses the bag or so low it hits the ground. After that i go back to grouping them on target. It doesnt matter if im 20, 30, 40 yards its the same. It is very frustrating. At first i thought it was my peep sight because it was easily sliding up and down. i had it reserviced and have the same problem after sighting my bow back in. my pins and sights are tight and not moving. I understand this more "user error" than bow but i have never had this happen. i really take my time now on my first shot and wak my self through the steps, but it still misses. usually i have the feeling like it was a bad shot before the arrow even hits the bag. But on these shots i feel like every thing is right. Again what makes this soo irritating is that after the firt 2 arrows every thing goes back to normal. i can set the bow down for about 2 hours hours and then the same thing. please help any advice?

Form, focus and follow through. Guaranteed it's in this area.

maybe you are getting target panic then calming down?

Have you tried stretching your muscles out before you shoot. Possibly it could just be muscle tension or maybe your just trying so hard to make the perfect shot your forcing things at first...

Try to draw your bow back 3 times before you shoot your first arrow. I'm thinking it could be something muscle related.

I'm thinking muscle related too. I do shoulder turns and stretch my triceps and back muscles before I shoot. Hey, if nothing else it might prevent injury.

Try not to think so much just work on mechanics and form, and the shot will follow.

I hate to sound harsh, but Pay attention. It's all in the form. Settle down consentrate. Now with that being said, the first few shots should not be as good as the rest, your muscles are cold and you have to warm up. Drifting 1/2 to an inch at first is not bad, but you shouldn't be all over the place. Unless you're muscles are really, really cold and sore.

I had the same problem a while back. My issue was with string stretch. The string was tight for the first couple of shots, causing me to shoot high. After a couple of shots, the string stretched out letting me hit dead on. I trashed those name-branded strings and bought Winner's Choice. This happened on two different bows.
Try pulling to full draw a couple of times to see if that helps. Better yet, have a buddy to shoot the bow a few times and then you shoot. See if the problem duplicates itself.

I always try to shoot a little during the day to keep my form fit while at the lease and a couple arrows before I go to stand.

Sounds like a form and expectation thang. You might try your first three shots on the target with a single arrow broad head.......at point blank range eyes closed. You should feel your shot through release. If all feels right, move on out and do your thang. Good luck

I always give the string a draw or two every time I get ready to practice and whenever I first get into the stand. Helps the bow stretch and you stretch as well. Might give it a try.
