I don't like to shoot over 45 yards, just too many things can go worng with a long shot.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

How big is the buck? In all seriousness I try to keep it under 30 yards but I practice at 40. I shot a pig at 75 one time but it was 80% luck and 20% skill or maybe all luck. I would never do it on a deer but on pigs any contact is good contact.

X2

Would depend on the conditions and the alertness of the deer

Yep, conditions play a big role. I am confident shooting my bow at 60 yds but I dont think that I would ever take a shot that far. Now, 50yds I probably would if everything was right. 40yds and under, he is dead.

It depends on how comfortable each person is shooting at a certain distance. If you don't practice beyond 30 yards, then a 40 or 50 yard shot would be out of the question. If you practice and maybe compete out to 80 and 100 yards, then a 50 yard shot should be doable with the right condidtions. So, it is an individual answer depending upon your skill level. My rule of thumb is if you have not practiced the shot or at that distance, don't take the shot.

I was lucky enough to take this cow elk in CO 2 years ago. She was right at 50 yards. I had practiced out to 60 yards, and have 3 pins- 30, 40 and 50 yards. We called her in 3 times, and she finally stood broadside right next to a tree I lasered at 50 yards. So, take a shot only as far as you have practiced and can make given the conditions at the time of the shot.

I only have a 20 yd and 30yd pin. So, 35 I guess. I've never shot at a deer I thought was over 30 yds.

On a whitetail, I will stay at 30 yard max. I can punch them in there further out but too many things can happen once you hit the release. I really like to get them in close, like 15 or 20 yards.

50 yards is my max for shooting at a deer, but I'll shoot out to 60 on hogs and predators.

Depends on oppurtunity... limited oppurtunity or last oppurtunity 60-70 yards. Deer lease opputunity where I'm going to see the animal again 40 yards unless its a bruiser and then I'm taking the shot. Ohhh one more scenerio fixed blade max 50 yards. I will only shoot an expandable over 50 ...

Ive shot two deer over 60 yards. I wont hesitate to hit the release out to 50. Unfortunately I have already broke two sight pins on my sight and I dont want to mess with getting a new sight right now so about 35 yards is all I will be shooting right now. Good thing the furthest shot I can take out of my popup is 19 yards
