Cool. I just picked up a lease in the Kiamichis north of antlers. I hear there are some bear there. I'm thinking of winching up my feeders instead of using traditional ones with legs.

It's illegal to hunt black bears in TX last time I looked as they are trying to let them re-establish the population in TX.

I have wanted to ask a GW what to do if I ever crossed paths with one out in the country if it charges I presume I have the right to defend myself, but then what to do with the bear? I can't tag it or take it to be processed... I guess call the GW and tell him and ask him at that point.

I am talking about Wisconsin, but we just pulled our cards on archery opening weekend(last weekend for us up here) and the guy about a 1/2 mile away from my stand had 300+ pics out of 700 of bears. I didn't have any and I'm sitting on a spring between the bedding area and a alfalfa field.

The land owner next to us, hunts bears and baits as much as allowed by the DNR. We always see tracks and generally get a few pics, but this year they have been extremely active. Its now required by the property owner that anyone walking around must carry a side arm, before this year it was suggested but not required.

If you love deer hunting you really don't want a large bear population. They are almost as bad as the wolves.

That's a good idea.

My in-laws live in Clayton, just down the S2 from Antlers. My brother-in-law lives up on the mountain overlooking Clayton State Park and has been running those hills for decades. Bears and bear sign are there.

If i happened to run across one in the woods, i would do everything in my power to make it leave but if it charged and i had to shoot it...no one would ever find out about it because it would get buried really quick! becuase that is a pretty hefty fine and i think maybe some jail time.

I wouldn't tell the GW becauuse self-defense or not, they're gonna try to stick you with some type of fines.

Life is too short to drink cheap booze and argue with stupid people!
