Yeah what do you want to use it for? If you want the best either ACOG or US Optics.

BigNate- A couple question have arisen for this topic and I also have a couple more. How did you plan to use this. Is it for hunting? 3 gun? Having fun with the family at the farm? Home defense? Many can tell you that you get what you pay for, but thing to remeber is how will it suit your needs. You can spend $3,000.00 on a Schmidt and Bender, but if it doesn't suit you it's worthless to you because the of the functionality of the optics. Have you also that about a mounting system. Does your AR have a carry handle or is it the flat top with a pic rail?

For me, just because it is an AR-15 has very little to do with the proper choice. You need to evaluate application, how it will be used.

I have a (KIt 6) SWFA SS 3-9x40 setup that would be perfect for your M4. Comes with the best mount I have ever used, Sun shade, Butler Creeks and ARD ready to mount up. But it's a $100.00 more than you wanted to spend. But there are hundreds of options out there. What kind of magnification would you like?

Kit 6 is not, but Kit 3 & kit 4 are. But it's a $200.00 price jump and less mag.
